Your curiosity will be piqued before you even get to your table, as you pass by the open kitchen and catch a glimpse into the pots and pans. In this stylish and elegant fine dining restaurant housed in luxury hotel Der Öschberghof, Manuel Ulrich skilfully incorporates a judicious touch of modernity into his classic French-based cuisine. Every detail is considered, and his dishes never fail to impress with their precise craftsmanship and depth of flavour. The premium quality of the ingredients is evident in dishes such as succulent, tender black cod, served with a quenelle of delicately nutty I

The Grom brothers run their restaurant right in the centre of this small town – Jason in the kitchen, Niklas front of house. As sommelier, Niklas contributes to the expert service with astute recommendations from the impressive wine list. Jason Grom's ambitious modern dishes are served as a five- to seven-course set menu (classic and vegetarian) – tempting options include creamy Parmigiano Reggiano ravioli with grilled leek and rum-soaked raisins. Characterised by premium materials and chic, minimalist design, the decor reflects the owners' enthusiasm for wine. An alternative eatery, "burg - g

Owner Marius Tröndle has a decidedly ambitious man at the helm in Fabian Obergfell. The chef delivers modern cuisine, cooking with great sensibility, finesse and consummate precision. Often he pares back his dishes to just a handful of components, and the result is a wonderfully harmonious balance of flavours – one highlight is the superbly roasted calf sweetbread with a crunchy, paper-thin crust and a creamy, melt-in-the-mouth centre, served on a vin jaune sauce with pointed cabbage and garnished with pickled grape halves and crispy pointed cabbage leaves as chips. The hors-d'œuvres whet the

The trip to the Hegar family's restaurant just outside Bonndorf is definitely worth it! Nestled in a quiet valley, surrounded by woods and meadows, the setting could not be more idyllic. There's an inviting terrace, but you can also enjoy the view from inside. The cuisine is regional and seasonal, including French and Mediterranean influences. The dishes are meticulously crafted and packed with flavour. Great care is taken to source ingredients. The wine list showcases a number of gems from the region, with a special emphasis on Baden Burgundy – the selection of half bottles is excellent. In t

This inn is everything you could wish for! Nestled in the heart of the sleepy hamlet of Schwaningen, the family-run establishment has been welcoming diners for three generations. Inside, a cosy ambiance awaits, while outside, the idyllic garden terrace with its shady chestnut tree beckons. The food is outstanding – their wild boar ravioli in sage butter is a house speciality. They make a point of using regional ingredients, some of which they produce themselves: They have their own chickens and eggs, hunt their own game, keep bees, bake their own bread, make juices, liqueurs and spirits… Both

This inn has existed since 1683. Matthias Schwer is the 4th generation of the family to carry on the tradition. Here, just outside St Märgen at an altitude of approx. 1 030m, a father-and-son team cook up quality seasonal fare, including local game, and classics such as maultaschen and schnitzel. There is an à la carte menu, the "Tradition" set menu and the vegetable "Gemussmenü" (only by ordering in advance). Comfortable guestrooms and holiday apartments for overnight guests.

The dedication of chef Verena Martin and her team is palpable. In a charming setting diners enjoy cordial service and good food that is made primarily with produce from the region and draws inspiration from the seasons. The kitchen staff put their heart and soul into their work – the motto here is ä weng eppis Feins, or "a little something fine" in the local dialect. Tip: "Unser badisches Menü" or "Unser großes Menü" (for two or more people).
