In the charming, elegant interior, windows allow a glimpse into the kitchen – there, the chefs can be seen creating a six-course set menu that takes its cue from the seasons, draws on classic French influences and incorporates regional produce. Select ingredients are used throughout, often sourced from the region, although international accents also appear on the menu. The cooking is executed with great care and impresses with both craftsmanship and flavour, for example in the terrine made with premium fish and served warm with trout caviar, saffron sour cream and a flower salad, or pan-fried corn-fed chicken breast with ratatouille and wild garlic risotto.

Few would suspect that such a stylish restaurant could be found on this rather unremarkable industrial estate. In summer, a lovely terrace adds to the appeal. The friendly proprietress provides highly attentive service while the chef-patron transforms top-quality ingredients into freshly prepared classic dishes such as venison saddle with nut crust, savoy cabbage, gnocchi and juniper jus. Three set menus are available (one of them vegetarian), and dishes may also be ordered à la carte.

This absolute gem of an old half-timbered house is tucked away in a side street.
