This cosy little restaurant surrounded by historical buildings occupies a corner plot in Hanover's Oststadt. Its modern decor also capitalises on elements of the original architecture. High ceilings and lovely period floorboards meet clean lines, soothing warm hues, candlelight and soft background music to create an inviting atmosphere. In the kitchen, chef-patron Sven Holthaus prepares contemporary dishes based on classic French cuisine, skilfully incorporating Asian accents here and there. The set menu (vegetarian version available) comprises four to six courses and features dishes such as b

The lakeside setting, nestled in lush greenery, is altogether exceptional – particularly if you dine on the terrace with views across the magnificent garden to the water. Inside, the decor is equally lovely, featuring tasteful and welcoming country-house-style decor. The kitchen emphasises seasonal and regional sourcing, with dishes that are meticulously prepared and full of flavour. Choose from the enticing à la carte selection or compose your own set menu. For overnight stays, there are charming, individually appointed guestrooms.

A chic bistro vibe, friendly hospitality and good food are the hallmarks of the restaurant of the Hotel Wegner, a family-run business since 1957. The cuisine is modern and takes its cue from the changing seasons. The chefs like to give their dishes the finishing touch at your table when they serve, for example, cheese wheel pasta, crêpes Suzette or fillet of sole. Tip: Pre-order beef Wellington, Chateaubriand or the monthly changing set menu. In summer, be sure to secure a table on the quiet, leafy terrace! You can also come for breakfast.

With delicious food, friendly service, a welcoming and charming vibe, this restaurant in a residential area just outside the city centre is a magnet for diners. The contemporary cuisine makes use of predominantly regional produce. The meticulously prepared and beautifully plated dishes are served in the format of a four- or five-course set menu, with vegetarian alternatives for the meat/fish courses – and it is possible to opt for the "upgrade", an additional course. Wine or alcoholic drinks pairings are available. The space is sleek and modern yet cosy, and tables are set up on a terrace on t

In this small restaurant in a bustling neighbourhood, a unique, cohesive concept is making waves: serving a modern vegan menu featuring seasonal produce from the region, they aim to use produce in its entirety; they also ferment and preserve ingredients. The chefs help serve the food, elaborating on the dishes and the ideas behind them. You get a real sense of the dedication of the owners, who are also often on site. There is a six-course set menu with optional add-ons, plus a good selection of organic wines. Staff are cordial and professional, contributing to the relaxed atmosphere in the ple

The atmosphere in this attractive historical corner-plot building is pleasingly casual. Featuring high ceilings, warm wood panelling, cosy booths and large arched windows, the pretty dining space has the feel of a classic bistro. There is also a bar, and in summer a terrace is set up out front, giving onto the street. The menu includes flavoursome dishes such as oysters, beef tartare, fine fish dishes and premium steaks. Tempting options on the shorter lunch menu include veal meatballs with carrots and mashed potatoes.

This young and vibrant addition to the local fine dining scene is proving to be a hit – and with good reason. Part of the appeal is the upscale and tastefully trendy decor. And then there is the modern and pleasingly pared-down cuisine, in which French and Asian influences are deftly interwoven. Dishes are presented in the form of a five-course set menu, available in both a classic and a vegan version, with the option of an additional course. Their signature dish is "The Wild Duck, Thai curry, pear". The friendly waitstaff will gladly recommend the perfect wine pairing. Tip for getting there:
