This village on the road to the Alps has long benefited from the generosity of the Carthusian monks, after whom the restaurant is named. The menu features well-executed modern cuisine that makes the most of seasonal (and often local) ingredients. The ever-popular 64°C egg is beautifully paired with a tempting medley of mushrooms; the classic beef chuck is slowly simmered in Mondeuse and gentian as well as cervelle de canut (a herby cheese spread); the craquelin chou pastry is served with Grenoble walnut praline, hazelnut ice cream and melted chocolate – comfort food that uplifts the spirits! Set beside a lake and boasting a magnificent view of Mont Blanc, this chalet has a resolutely understated decor. On the menu, traditional cuisine is given free rein, in dishes such as slow-cooked egg, lentils, smoked diot (pork sausages from the regional repertoire) and a bacon emulsion, or beef bourguignon. In fact, the chef won a competition with his pâté en croûte.

With its mountain-style interior (wood panelling, whitewashed walls, parquet flooring) and traditional cuisine by Florent Meyer (who has worked with Flocons de Sel chef Emmanuel Renaut), the restaurant is an instant hit… This is thanks, in particular, to the vin jaune sauce that envelops the delicious free-range chicken supreme, or the moreish tartiflette with a nod to the village's terroir – a signature starter. The chef conjures up well-crafted dishes, like free-range poached egg flanked by sweet chestnuts and creamy squash, or melt-in-the-mouth chuck beef stew that is eaten with a spoon. The chalet-inspired dining room, divided in two by a small open-plan kitchen, is the quintessence of alpine charm, in particular due to the shelves loaded in bottles (the establishment is also a wine merchant). This charming restaurant boasts a lovely contemporary decor and an ideal location in the heart of the resort. In the open kitchen, you can glimpse the skilful and talented chef cooking up traditional, refined cuisine based on quality produce. In addition to the tempting menu, there are two set menus. Wild cod, sage and risotto; vanilla crème brûlée, almond tuile and red fruit sorbet: each plate is packed with bold flavours and terrific combinations. We warmly recommend it.
