- Quadrat It’s hard not to be delighted by this restaurant occupying the former stables of a mansion (now the one-Michelin-key Sant Francesc Hotel Singular) with the additional benefit of a charming landscaped garden-patio. The chefs at the helm, Carles Forteza and Alvar Albaladejo, conjure up Mediterranean cuisine with a constant nod to locally grown ingredients and Mallorcan cooking. Quadrat is open for dinner from Thursday to Monday (choose between an à la carte and a tasting menu entitled L'Entorn). A different menu is served for Sunday lunch, on which rice dishes take centre stage.436m
- La Vieja by Jonay Hernández A restaurant with a distinct urban feel which is striking for its genuine graffiti (note the huge octopus!) and the influence of the Canary Islands (chef Jonay Hernández’s homeland) in its cuisine. The cooking here is described here as “new Canarian cuisine” that features local ingredients and an American and Mexican touch. It also takes its inspiration from the island’s culinary roots, which is showcased in several dishes that the chef has inherited from his mother. - Bàrbar In the heart of Palma’s old quarter, just a few metres from the Convento de la Concepció after which the street is named, you’ll come across this rustic-style eatery with lots of character, thanks mainly to its restored natural stone walls. It features two distinct dining spaces: one overlooking the kitchen for a more authentic experience, plus the pleasant main dining room. The à la carte dining format here is based around the Mediterranean with the occasional global touch, ably supported by seasonal suggestions and fish of the day options. - Adrián Quetglas A restaurant that is as original as it is stylish, usually full and always meets with expectations. Located in the heart of Palma, overlooking the bed of the Torrent de Sa Riera canal, it boasts a welcoming, bistro-style ambience with attractive bonuses such as a vertical garden and a pleasant vibe created by the jazz music playing in the background. The owner-chef’s goal is to democratise haute cuisine and showcase cooking full of nuances and variations (including from his native Buenos Aires) with a strong focus on Mediterranean flavours and unequivocal influences from his time working in Lo1.3km
- Mombo This highly original eatery, with its attractive and informal bistro-style ambience, is the fiefdom of Brazilian-born chef Gabriel Conti. He arrived in Palma having spent many years working in Barcelona, which enabled him to acquire a rucksack full of different culinary experiences and expertise, which he now highlights, in particular, in dishes prepared on the grill. If you decide to eat at one of the four seats at the bar counter, the chef will be happy to share the secrets of his dishes with you step by step.1.4km
- Little Jarana Chef Abraham Artigas' small bistro, which has carved out a niche for itself within the city's culinary scene, presents a fairly informal and fun menu, based on Mediterranean cuisine but incorporating some international touches. Among its offerings, with many dishes designed for sharing, we were particularly impressed by its Scarlet shrimp, ham and lime, as well as the Gnocchi, cockles and bottarga (the latter, a huge hit, has never been taken off the menu). They don't serve soft drinks, beer or coffee, just wine (mainly from small producers), some vermouth and water!1.5km
