The fine dining restaurant of the Hotel Belvedere welcomes diners in a compact space with just six tables. In the kitchen, Hungarian chef Dávid Imre Rózsa runs the show. His technically modern and pleasingly pared-back style conveys emotions through its flavours, coming into its own in dishes such as dry-aged pike perch with Oscietra caviar from Frutigen – this also exemplifies the firm focus on using local seasonal produce, some of which they collect and plant themselves. Vegetarian dishes are the backbone of the menu, with one of the two set menus being completely vegetarian. There is a good

Set against a beautiful mountain backdrop, this establishment is run with great dedication by brothers Matthias and Lars Michel – Matthias manages the hotel, which boasts comfortable, tastefully designed rooms, and Lars is the restaurant's charming maître d'. In the kitchen, Aurélien Mettler and his team conjure up the ambitious, modern, seasonal "Chef's Choice" set menu, which comprises four to six courses. They place great importance on using regional ingredients. If you would like a vegetarian version, it is best to specify this when making your reservation. In addition to the well-curated

In his kitchen in the restaurant of the time-honoured Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel, Stefan Beer uses only ingredients sourced within a 50km radius (the clue is in the name!). There are two set menus – conventional and vegan – plus a "Sommelier Menu" with wines from the surrounding area. Diners are talked through the pleasingly uncomplicated dishes – sometimes by the chef himself. Produce that they harvest themselves is used alongside local shrimps and caviar from the region. The high standards of quality are also reflected in the tasteful, upscale interior decor. Friendly service from the kno

The restaurant of the venerable Grandhotel Giessbach (dating back to 1875) stands right at the foot of the waterfalls of the same name and boasts a wonderful view of the nearby lake, Brienzersee. The tasty food is regional and seasonal, made primarily from produce grown in the hotel's own 2ha vegetable garden. The other ingredients are sourced from local producers and small-scale growers: fish from the lake, veal from a neighbouring farmer. There are also a number of vegetarian options, such as "Giessbach agnolotti, broccoli, hazelnut". In the evening, the "Tour du Domaine" surprise menu for s

Richard and Yvonne Stöckli's commitment to their 400-year-old inn has not faltered even after over 40 years. In the charming little space, the lady of the house cordially and competently heads up the service – and also has up her sleeve some excellent wine recommendations from a great selection. Meanwhile, her husband draws on select ingredients to cook up meals with a well-rounded, harmonious taste profile. His modern, seasonal menu comprising four to seven courses demonstrates a strong allegiance to the region; some produce comes from their own garden or from the Alp Nessleren – and the chee

The restaurant of this family-run chalet hotel presents an interesting concept in a friendly atmosphere. Classic cuisine is on offer at lunchtime and in the evening; in addition there is a lunch deal and a "close-to-nature" gourmet set menu every evening from Tue to Sat. The top-notch ingredients are almost exclusively sourced locally, many of them harvested by the chefs themselves.

Modern chic with an Alpine touch: Done out in warm tones, with lovely hardwood floors, striking designer lamps and an open kitchen complete with an impressive charcoal grill, this restaurant – part of the equally attractive Bergwelt Grindelwald hotel – has a truly unique atmosphere. The cuisine, inspired by the region, is also very appealing. For meat lovers, the fragrant, golden-brown Wiener schnitzel is sure to whet the appetite, and the same goes for the top-quality signature cuts from the barbecue. Vegetarian options are also available. The well-curated wine list predominantly features Swi
