U Matěje
Czech, Modern Cuisine · 必比登

Located in a pleasant residential neighbourhood not far from the zoo, this is an inviting restaurant in which an abundance of rustic wood finishings and decorative details such as numerous old photographs, striking pendant lamps and ceiling fans create a charming atmosphere. The food is a modern take on traditional Czech cuisine, eschewing unnecessary frills. Fresh, high-quality ingredients are prepared with precision to create delicious dishes such as carp fries with dill mayonnaise and coleslaw, stuffed goose stomachs and hearts with paprika and sour cream, or pulled goose meat with sauerkra

This somewhat labyrinthine restaurant has a pleasant, modern bistro atmosphere and serves both Czech and Italian cuisine. Quality ingredients and a lot of energy go into the flavourful dishes. The chef has a particular penchant for stews and pasta. Tip: One of the tables is located right in front of the kitchen and promises interesting glimpses of the team in action.

A little outside the city centre, surrounded by greenery, this restaurant is located right next to its sister establishment, U Matěje. There are just a handful of tables in the modern yet rustic dining space, all with a direct view of the open kitchen. Here, the young team of chefs creates an ambitious 5- or 10-course suprise menu. Attentive service comes courtesy of charming waitstaff. Tip for motorists: You can park in front of the building – using a parking app is recommended.

Salabka
Modern Cuisine
€€€€
On the outskirts of the city, this restaurant is located in a vineyard with a wine-growing tradition dating back to the 13C. A combination of exposed old wooden beams, quarry stone walls and sleek modern furnishings creates an atmospheric setting. The view of the vines is best enjoyed from the tables at the windows on the first floor, which is actually a gallery constructed under the open gable roof. In summer, tables on the terrace are coveted. Meticulously prepared with great technical precision, the dishes are visually stunning and often feature produce from trusted farmers. Tip: Book a win
