Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★★ Michelin

Shopping and fine dining under one roof? Head to the top floor of fashion retailer engelhorn Mode im Quadrat to investigate. A team headed up by Dominik Paul cooks up modern and creative cuisine. With flavours that range from bold and robust to low-key, subtle and highly elegant, the dishes bowl diners over. Made using excellent ingredients, everything is nicely pared down and wonderfully balanced. The carefully devised wine pairings are also impressive – there are alcohol-free alternatives, too. In the evening, you can choose between three set menus: the six-course "Urban Nature", four-course

At Dobler's, a veritable institution in the Quadratestadt, or "City of Squares", chef-owner Eric Schumacher's brand is classic dishes presented with finesse and pleasing simplicity. When you master your craft and have top-notch ingredients in your pantry, there is no need for gimmickry. Fine examples include "white halibut with black salsify ragout, beetroot purée, black radish and beurre blanc with vadouvan" or "pink-roasted leg of venison with parsley root purée, bay bolete mushrooms, pickled cranberries and a spiced jus". Both at lunchtime and in the evening, you can order à la carte or opt

The charming old Isenhof, a gorgeous half-timbered house dating from the 17C, is the new home of Max Goldberg's "irori" fine dining concept, with which he previously made a name for himself in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. He skilfully combines regional ingredients and Japanese influences in his own unique way. The set menu on offer comprises nine courses – guests should plan for around four hours. A vegetarian version of the set menu is available if requested in advance. Run by Tommy R. Möbius and his wife, this small restaurant makes a chic impression. In this modern and tastefully designed space, she leads the service with warmth, professionalism and a personal touch. In the evening, the chef-patron creates bold and ambitious cuisine based on classical foundations. Dishes such as "WALD.WASSER – wild mushroom consommé, stuffed paccheri, caraway crisp" or "TAFEL ABER SPITZ – grilled veal topside from Höllerschmid, spinach, rösti, apple and horseradish sauce, jellied stock" are served as a set menu or à la carte. At Grenzhof, chef Sebastian Andrée and his team are strongly influenced by the seasons and their produce in their modern cuisine, which is served as a three to six-course menu and an appealing à la carte selection. In nice weather, the Kastanienhof is absolutely idyllic; on less clement days and in winter, the Gutsstube with its rural-style decor is welcoming. At lunchtime, options are limited to a lunch buffet and a short lunch menu. They also rent out various spaces for private events. For overnight stays, they propose attractive and inviting country house-style and themed guestrooms.

The addition of "Bistrot Parisien" to the name tells diners exactly what to expect. If you like a friendly, down-to-earth bistro atmosphere and classic French cuisine, then this is the place for you! Here, the emphasis is on the excellent ingredients that are used to make their house specialities such as blood sausage, beef tartare, mussels or fish soup.
