Contemporary, Hungarian · 必比登
€€
‘Crumbs’ is a new wave bakery-cum-bistro with a relaxed urban style, owned by a charismatic and exuberant designer. Sit inside to watch the making of the delicious loaves and pastries or head out to the terrace for some people-watching in the part-pedestrianised lane. Modern, flavour-packed small plates are served throughout the day and can be accompanied by something from the biodynamic wine list. Naturally, a pastry is a must to finish, but with so many delicious options it can be hard to choose... and if you simply can't decide, there's always the option to take something home for later too

The concise selection of contemporary dishes take their inspiration from the Hungarian kitchen but exhibit a level of refined creativity. The passionate team will share their knowledge to help you find the perfect wine match.

GÓRÉ

A góré is a barn used to dry cereals, and that was this sleek restaurant’s former function – although it's hard to imagine that following its chic refurbishment. Climb the stairs to the raised dining area beneath the beams to enjoy the view out through the floor-to-ceiling windows; alternatively, enjoy an al fresco experience on the covered terrace. The heart of the menu has strong classical foundations, but unique additions offer innovation and originality, with fermentation techniques featuring highly. The restaurant is remotely set in a sleepy village, so the comfy bedrooms are a real bonus

This romantic little restaurant sits in an attractive courtyard setting and is keenly run by its hands-on owner Franciska. Nothing is too much trouble for her when it comes to her guests, who she encourages to relax and fully appreciate the experience. The five-course tasting menu comes with plenty of little extras and the flavour-packed dishes are truly beautiful to look at – with flavours to match. In an all-encompassing experience, the contemporary artwork on the walls changes every two months along with the menu – and the ceramic dishes are specially designed by the chef himself.

The name pays tribute to the painter Adolf Waldinger, who was born in Osijek in 1843. Behind the Art Nouveau façade of the hotel of the same name is a bright, modern room with contemporary canvases on the walls. The menu relies on close collaboration with local farmers and producers, which ensures quality seasonal ingredients that well express the rich culinary heritage of the region. They range from the more robust flavours, such as vješalica, the pork chop stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, to the more mouth-watering flavours of delicious desserts.
