Wirtshaus im Dorfhotel Mayer
Seasonal Cuisine · 必比登

This place has kept it in the family since 1854. Now the seventh generation, embodied by daughter Lisa Mayer, is at the helm. This certified sommelier takes care of matters front of house; behind the scenes, her husband Stefan Ell-Mayer is responsible for the food. He cooks up a seasonal à la carte selection, which changes every two to three weeks. Without overwhelming diners with choice, it still promises something for everyone, from traditional beef soup or beef tartare to coq au vin with Zehentmoarhof Riesling, young vegetables, Brandteigkrapferl (traditional Austrian pastries), or golden t

Set in the Salzburg mountains, in the UNESCO Biosphere Park, Mesnerhaus has been run by Maria and Josef Steffner since 2007. The modern interior design within the venerable walls of this building dating back to 1420se, incorporates the historical architecture beautifully. An extremely warm and welcoming hostess, Maria is responsible for the wine cellar, restaurant and hotel, which has six cosy rooms and a suite. With just as much dedication, Josef delivers expressive, creative cuisine made from regional and seasonal produce, served as a set menu or à la carte. The signature dish Lungau potato

This small fine dining restaurant is in the MONDI Hotel, which boasts a picturesque hillside location overlooking the lake Gundlsee – with such a fantastic backdrop, the terrace is a real highlight! But eating inside is just as appealing, on account of the upscale modern ambience bursting with regional charm. The à la carte menu is not too extensive but constitutes a judicious selection, from which you can also create a three- to five-course set menu. The emphasis is on seasonal ingredients from the surrounding area, such as Ausseerland trout, Salzkammergut catfish and Gundlsee lamb. Vegetaria

Run by Stefan Haas, this restaurant offers a totally immersive experience. The open kitchen allows you to witness firsthand how the chef-patron transforms seasonal ingredients into flavoursome dishes with his own creative touch. There is no menu in the traditional sense: you are given small cards with sketches and explanations of the dishes – you then compile your own meal from these options. Modern and minimalist in style, the dining space has only a limited number of tables. Service is friendly and adept – your host and sommelier Juliane Haas brings a warm, personal touch.
