Luka Košir's restaurant and home can be reached by driving along hilly roads dotted with small villages and surrounded by lush green landscapes that offer a glimpse of Grič's green vocation. The same beautiful view can be admired from the tables in the dining room-veranda, while culinary enthusiasts can sit at the table in front of the open kitchen to watch the team at work. The chef and owner interprets Slovenia in a seasonal, rural and creative key, offering two tasting menus – seven or eleven courses – to be chosen when booking online; once you arrive at the restaurant, you can then rely on

Located inside a modern hotel just outside the old town (which, let's not forget, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the restaurant compensates for its rather anonymous location with classic, welcoming surroundings opening onto the bright first-floor dining room. The menu, which includes starters, soups, main courses and desserts, is varied and sure to satisfy both meat and fish lovers. The three-course lunch menu, inspired by traditional recipes from the Idrija area, is not to be missed. If you happen to stop by on a cool autumn day, warm yourself up with a delicious and flavoursome traditiona

Situated on a small hill just outside Vipava, this elegant restaurant – in business for over fifty years – occupies a seventeenth-century residence that once belonged to a family of Venetian nobility. The interiors unfold across several rooms, each with its own distinct personality: particularly evocative are the stone spaces obtained from the original stables and kitchens of the historic residence. An enchanting dining room with a fireplace is the setting for a refined cuisine, where traditionally inspired dishes coexist with more creative and experimental proposals. Under the guidance of Tom

In one of the oldest buildings in the country, in the fully pedestrianised centre, chef Uroš Štefelin and his team welcome guests with genuine spontaneity. The gastronomic proposal is structured around three tasting menus – of five, seven, or nine courses – selectable at the time of booking. Regardless of the number of dishes, the journey celebrates local produce and recipes reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity. Preparations such as krapci, ravioli filled with chestnuts and porcini, or sweetbreads, deftly served with finely cut vegetables, are but a few expressions of local tradition. I

Located in Nova Gorica, slightly off the beaten track and a few kilometres from the centre, the restaurant welcomes guests into an urban-chic setting. You will be captivated by the relaxed atmosphere, pleasant music and a modern, reassuring culinary experience. No special effects here, just a balanced and sensitive indulgence for the palate. Among the dishes we sampled, the seafood rice with the fragrant aroma of oysters was undoubtedly our favourite: intense yet delicate, the smell alone evoked the sea breeze. Chef Uroš Fakuč is a constant presence in the dining room, personally overseeing th

The history of this charming country manor, overlooking the Idrijca valley, stretches back to the fourteenth century. Today Kendov Dvorec welcomes guests in warm and elegant surroundings, between refined dining rooms and a pleasant summer terrace. The kitchen draws inspiration from the tradition of Idrija, reinterpreted with contemporary sensitivity: old recipes and local ingredients give rise to dishes that are authentic and seasonal. Two tasting menus are offered, of fish or meat, with the latter particularly recommended, especially for specialities such as bati and bakalca (steamed bread du

Majerca is the intimate restaurant of an elegant boutique hotel nestled in the valleys of the Julian Alps, a short distance from the bucolic Lake Bohinj. Its cuisine draws deep roots from the produce of the territory. The chef-patron, a native of the area, combines international techniques with a contemporary vision, expressing them with balance and sensitivity. Local ingredients take undisputed centre stage: the trout, offered in several preparations; the daily soups, always richly flavoured; and the meats of the territory, among which the duck breast stands out as one of the most appreciated

Head up to the first floor to this retro-style restaurant, where you pass a welcoming lounge bar before moving into the main dining room adorned with an attractive fresco. The “culinary journey” offered by the chef here follows the rhythm of the seasons and showcases local traditions, enhanced by the occasional international influence. Although at lunchtime you can order à la carte, in the evening the choice is between three tasting menus (four, six or eight courses) with a wine-pairing option (labels from Slovenia and further afield) or a choice of non-alcoholic drinks.
