Tucked away in the Cheshire countryside, La Popote is one of several businesses occupying a centuries-old former farm, and the red-brick converted barn in which it's situated has retained a warm, rustic touch thanks to its brick floors and exposed beams. The owners spent several years working in Paris and this is evident with one scan of the menu, where you'll spot the likes of coq au vin, cassoulet and clafoutis.
