De Bokkedoorns

french · ★★ Michelin

€€€€

A veritable culinary institution, De Bokkedoorns was established in 1961 and has held on to its two MICHELIN stars for the past 30 years. Owner Pascal Beeren, who represents the third generation of this family to run the restaurant, likes to personally give his diners a warm welcome. Modern luxury meets plush comfort in this inviting space, where stunning views of the surrounding natural beauty evoke a sense of serenity. Roy Eijkelkamp is also a stalwart of the restaurant, having worked here under the tutelage of Lucas Rive, who taught him the art of bringing intensity and depth to sauces – re

Cheval Blanc

french · ★ Michelin

Cheval Blanc is the epitome of a perennial favourite. Set in an elegant and inviting townhouse, this upscale restaurant is the perfect destination for food lovers. The team's enthusiasm is infectious. Maître d' and owner Ton Nelissen gives his diners a warm welcome and is always on hand to provide astute wine recommendations. Chef Huub van der Velden pulls out all the stops to ensure your dining experience is unforgettable. A top-quality main ingredient and some carefully considered garnishes: that's all it takes. For instance, he combines perfectly pan-seared scallops with al dente white aspa

Ratatouille Food & Wine

Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

With Jozua Jaring, not everything is as it seems. He pays great attention to detail in the meticulous presentation of his dishes and likes to surprise diners with contrasting colours and forms. This is a restaurant with a real "wow" factor – chef Jaring puts his own exciting spin on classic flavours, taking your taste buds on a culinary adventure: conjuring up vegetable ice cream concoctions, dabbling with Asian citrus notes or rounding off a dish with a classic, deeply flavoursome vegetable jus. Such inspirations take this chef's top-quality ingredients to the next level. Think sweet and smok

ML is a firm favourite for many a foodie. Mark and Liane Gratama's restaurant is housed in an imposing listed building in the heart of Haarlem. The modern decor blends vintage elements with chic design. The Chef’s Bar, next to the open kitchen, is the place to be if you want to watch the enthusiastic Mark Gratama at work. Each dish is a creative masterpiece, playfully combining a delightful variety of textures. His unique ingredient combinations demonstrate his willingness to experiment and push culinary boundaries. For example, he incorporates a hint of seaweed into a blueberry-based dessert

Café Samabe

Indonesian, Balinese · 必比登

€€

The spicy aromas hit you the moment you enter this colonial-era building dating from 1899. An abundance of wood and an exotic colour scheme make for a uniquely charming setting inside – this place calls itself a café because of its casual atmosphere. The home-style Indonesian cuisine, with a slight preference for Balinese specialities, is indulgent and packs a punch. Think aromatic martabak, rich authentic rijsttafels (including vegetarian options) with spicy rendang and intensely flavoursome sambal goreng telor… At Café Samabe, a feast awaits!

Red Orchids

asian

€€€

Bold graffiti art and a dark palette of black and red create an intimate and laid-back feel. In the kitchen, the cuisines of Japan, China, Thailand and Indonesia artfully rub shoulders. The chef always manages to dose just the right spices, creating dishes full of rich flavours and crisp textures. Whether you opt for sushi, dim sum, Peking duck or sea bass with panang curry, this Asian culinary adventure puts authenticity front and centre.

Fris

Creative

€€€

Meticulously prepared sea bass terrine, perfectly fried veal sweetbreads, koji butter (fermented on site) and a penchant for exotic flavours such as coconut milk and kombu – the culinary worlds of France and Asia meet at Fris. Classic techniques, top-of-the-range ingredients and playful originality bring the dishes to life. The non-alcoholic beverage accompaniments include delicious kombuchas made using kitchen scraps, among other things.

Restaurant Moustique

Modern Cuisine

€€

Located in the heart of Haarlem, Moustique boasts stylish interior design and a terrace overlooking the Grote Kerk, plus it's open every day of the week – what a treat! The chef showcases his experience through an appealing à la carte selection and a multi-course tasting menu. He is just as adept at jazzing up fish with pickled cucumber, horseradish and jalapeño as he is at putting his own spin on steak tartare. The kitchen team thrives on excitement and daring combinations, but never at the expense of harmony on the plate.
