In the attractive Bülow Palais in Dresden's Baroque Quarter, the bistro and winter garden have been combined into Caroussel Nouvelle, with a stylish interior by acclaimed designer Carlo Rampazzi. At lunch and dinner, an appealing à la carte menu is available alongside a three- or four-course set menu. The cooking is inspired by both French and regional traditions and shaped by the seasons. The flavour, technical skill and quality of the ingredients are all equally strong. Classics feature as well as more modern creations. A chic, modern and pleasingly neighbourly vibe makes itself felt in this restaurant in the attractive historical district of Striesen, which inspired the name of this place. Walls decorated with artwork by local artists, as well as the open kitchen draw the eye. In the evening, there is a choice of two set menus (omnivore and vegetarian/vegan) composed of three to six courses, or à la carte dishes. This appealing concept combining delicatessen, café and bistro is the "little brother", as it were, of Feine Kost. Sharing the same premises, both belong to seasoned chef Mario Pattis. Kantine – open during the day – has a short menu that is supplemented by a handful of daily specials. The recipes stick close to the seasons and to products available in the delicatessen. Thanks to the open kitchen, diners are able to watch as delicious, meticulous dishes that won't break the bank are carefully prepared – the quiche is particularly popular. In August 2024 Mario Pattis established his Feine Kost restaurant, which entices diners with an appealing variety of modern-creative and classic cuisine. In a chic neighbourhood of Dresden Neustadt, the establishment serves dishes that are packed with flavours and interesting textures – these are organised into a set dinner menu with a choice of main course and dessert. The starter variation with various small dishes such as ‘duck liver, apricot jam, toasted brioche’ is a real delight. The wine pairing is also recommended.
