In the centre of Orvieto, Coro is set in the captivating deconsecrated church of San Giuseppe. The modern, refined style provides the backdrop for chef Ronald Bukri’s cuisine, which weaves together memory, innovation, and global influences into dishes with a distinctly contemporary character.

In this simple restaurant boasting an attractive outdoor summer garden and splendid views of the Duomo, chef Anna Rita focuses on carefully selected ingredients from the region and beyond. Highlights include soft egg, pan-fried courgettes and spring onions, and pecorino crumble, as well as soft veal rump, Jerusalem artichoke sauce and home-made pickled vegetables. The wine and spirits selection is particularly appealing – as an example, the Orvieto Classico Superiore Doc “Vendemmia Tardiva” is the perfect pairing for your dessert.

A few kilometers from Orvieto, after a series of winding roads in the village of Morrano Nuovo, an old 1980s sign will guide you to the restaurant Da Gregorio. A stop here is a must: straightforward, local cuisine with homegrown vegetables and cured meats, and a wine list celebrating small winemakers and native grape varieties. The grilled pork with maple syrup is a must-try – a true surprise on the plate.

Served in an elegant dining room or on the delightful outdoor terrace in fine weather, the highly creative cuisine at this restaurant has its roots in regional traditions and excellent local producers, while its stunning location within the luxurious Hotel Borgo La Chiaracia among the region’s verdant winding valleys makes it difficult to leave. With a choice of à la carte and tasting menus, our inspectors were particularly impressed by the Origini 20menu, on which all the ingredients are sourced within a 20km radius of the restaurant.
