Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

With its industrial-style architecture, loft feel and elegant, upmarket interior, Elements is a chic restaurant in the historical Zeitenströmung building complex. Run by Martina and Stephan Mießner, he heads up the kitchen; she is in charge of the friendly and smooth front-of-house service. Once the staff area of the former turbine factory, the spacious room boasts floor-to-ceiling arched windows, lovely floorboards and a high open ceiling. The dishes are pleasantly well defined and pared down, with plenty of bold flavours and finesse – opt for the "Chef's Menu" or put together your own menu f

Fourteen steps lead you down to this friendly, cosy cellar restaurant in a beautiful old villa in Neustadt, where sandstone walls and brick vaults make for a special setting. In a wonderfully informal atmosphere, brother-and-sister team Marcus and Nicole Blonkowski serve interesting, modern and creative cuisine prepared using top-quality produce – and the value for money is hard to beat! There is a nicely curated à la carte selection, but you can also opt to give the kitchen team free rein to put together a surprise menu for you. The wine list features labels from eastern Germany exclusively,

Here, in an appealingly down-to-earth and relaxed atmosphere, you can enjoy interesting international cuisine that is based on the seasons and drawn from select ingredients. The terrace on Niagaraplatz, a square with a waterfall feature, is also charming… The traditional hooded beach chairs are great for really chilling out. Good to know: They serve hot food all day.

In August 2024 Mario Pattis established his Feine Kost restaurant, which entices diners with an appealing variety of modern-creative and classic cuisine. In a chic neighbourhood of Dresden Neustadt, the establishment serves dishes that are packed with flavours and interesting textures – these are organised into a set dinner menu with a choice of main course and dessert. The starter variation with various small dishes such as ‘duck liver, apricot jam, toasted brioche’ is a real delight. The wine pairing is also recommended. The decor is sleek and modern, with an eye-catching wall decorated with

Feinkost Kantine Mario Pattis
Traditional Cuisine

This appealing concept combining delicatessen, café and bistro is the "little brother", as it were, of Feine Kost. Sharing the same premises, both belong to seasoned chef Mario Pattis. Kantine – open during the day – has a short menu that is supplemented by a handful of daily specials. The recipes stick close to the seasons and to products available in the delicatessen. Thanks to the open kitchen, diners are able to watch as delicious, meticulous dishes that won't break the bank are carefully prepared – the quiche is particularly popular. The service is friendly and down-to-earth. Tip: Choose

Caroussel Nouvelle

In the attractive Bülow Palais in Dresden's Baroque Quarter, the bistro and winter garden have been combined into Caroussel Nouvelle, with a stylish interior by acclaimed designer Carlo Rampazzi. At lunch and dinner, an appealing à la carte menu is available alongside a three- or four-course set menu. The cooking is inspired by both French and regional traditions and shaped by the seasons. The flavour, technical skill and quality of the ingredients are all equally strong. Classics feature as well as more modern creations. For an aperitif or digestif, head to the Palais Bar and Cigar Lounge.

Stresa
Classic Cuisine

A chic, modern and pleasingly neighbourly vibe makes itself felt in this restaurant in the attractive historical district of Striesen, which inspired the name of this place. Walls decorated with artwork by local artists, as well as the open kitchen draw the eye. In the evening, there is a choice of two set menus (omnivore and vegetarian/vegan) composed of three to six courses, or à la carte dishes. The menu changes regularly and takes its cue from the seasons. At lunchtime diners take their pick from a range of options on the "Bistro Menu". Friendly and relaxed service.

Schmidt's
Farm to table, Creative
€€
This restaurant is housed in the Hellerauer Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst (a workshop founded in 1909 by Karl Schmidt). Served in a modern bistro atmosphere, the classically based food has seasonal and regional influences, and is made with carefully selected ingredients, which are prepared for maximum flavour and minimum fuss. Having difficulty deciding? Then go for the surprise menu ("Schmidt's Karte rauf und runter"). The affordable lunch deal goes down a treat, and the terrace is also lovely.
