Part-owned by a local fishmonger and named after an old fishing boat, this modern, wood-clad 'shack' overlooks Newlyn Harbour, where much of its produce lands. The concise menu offers great value seafood dishes designed for sharing, varying daily depending on the catch. Whether it's sardines or black bream, the grill-centric cooking remains pleasingly simple and wholly enjoyable, allowing the quality fresh produce to do the work. On-tap natural wines are served by the glass and carafe. Be sure to book a table on the covered waterside terrace when the sun's out.

In a small fishing village, you'll find this old coastguard's cottage with a laid-back, open-plan interior, a sub-tropical garden and views towards St Clement’s Isle. The well-presented brasserie dishes display a Mediterranean edge, such as charred leeks with almond cream or beef ragu with pappardelle and pangrattato. The 'Lunch for Less' menu offers great value for money and it's worth taking time to browse the excellent wine list. 18th century beams and a wood-burning stove contribute towards the cosy atmosphere at this unassuming pub set beside the sea wall in the heart of Newlyn. As its location would suggest, the menu is centred around fresh fish and shellfish, much of which is landed at the adjacent harbour. The appealing menu uses lots of tried-and-tested combinations and includes dishes like hake with tartare crushed ‘Cornish earlies’ potatoes.

The gregarious and welcoming Bruce Rennie is something of a one-man band here at this intimate restaurant with room for just 10 diners. He works alone in the kitchen and presents dishes to all his guests at the same time, in a warm, engaging manner. The tasting menu incorporates international influences ranging from Japanese to French, but each course is united by the quality of its produce, much of it the finest seafood from Cornish waters.
