This authentic and sophisticated dining experience is the brainchild of Frank Xu, the descendant of a Shenzhen cooking dynasty. Some of his signature creations include dim sum of foie gras, fillet of seabass in ginger, Peking-style duck (served in two courses), or shrimps in a balanced blend of breadcrumbs, garlic and chili peppers. The “Diamond” menu for two, which includes duck, is highly recommended. The red, black and gold colour scheme mingles exoticism and elegance, while the floor-to-ceiling windows lead onto a spacious terrace that is bliss in summertime, and which overlooks a swimming

The epitome of rural France! With its exposed stonework, beams, floorboards and fireplace, so welcome during cold winter evenings, this authentic little 15C castle will delight those of a romantic disposition, as will the mystery menu of chef Jérôme Mamet, who is a stickler when it comes to plating! This inventive and talented chef works only with carefully selected, often organic, ingredients of the highest quality. Delicious terrace.

On the shores of Lake Geneva, the luxury Woodward hotel boasts a fine dining restaurant that is the epitome of classy decadence. Diners are seated in an interior, tastefully appointed in dark wood and vivid reds, at high tables or at a counter overlooking the open kitchen to sample a tasting or a vegetarian menu or one of the “small plates” available from the à la carte lineup. Service courtesy of a charming, devoted team! The lunch menu is a steal.

This modern restaurant boasts a great location next to the historical town hall and has a charming terrace laid out in the garden. The seasonally inspired menu successfully brings together modern Italian and French cuisine, while keeping an open mind when it comes to international influences. Cordial and competent service. Tip: the competitively priced lunch menu.

In addition to a jaw-dropping view over the lake, hence the restaurant’s name, we were enchanted by the high-flying repertory of Danny Khezzar served at the Hotel President Wilson’s fine dining establishment. Under the expert guidance of award-winning executive chef Michel Roth (Meilleur Ouvrier de France and Bocuse d’Or), Khezzar crafts a masterfully creative version of pedigree French classics. The dishes, whose plating is modern and sophisticated, are served in an airy, elegant setting, the centrepiece of which is an incredible suspended table made out of Saint-Louis Amadeus crystal. Perfectly suited to the swish, intimate vibe of Hôtel Royal in which it is located, take a seat at one of the restaurant’s four tables and let yourself be guided. The chef serves each elegant, immaculately crafted dish himself, explaining the ins and outs of their preparation. You will sample a lineup of outstanding produce – Swiss veal and beef, fish straight from Brittany, Bresse poultry, harnessed to ambitious cuisine packed with character. We recommend booking well in advance, particularly in the evenings, both in light of the seating capacity and its popularity, which is not about to wane

In the medieval village of Nernier on the banks of Lake Geneva between Yvoire and Messery, this charming country inn is warm and hospitable. Rustic (rafters, terracotta tiles) and contemporary features (pendant lights, designer chairs) rub shoulders in a match made in heaven. The market-fresh menu errs towards the traditional, whilst demonstrating the utmost reverence for the seasons. The smiling and attentive service is courtesy of the chef's partner, while the paved terrace is everything one expects of rural villagey France.

In this small village near the Swiss border (in Haute-Savoie), which for a long time was a major raspberry-growing area, foodies will find a refuge in this family-run establishment. The plush, Belle Époque-inspired restaurant interior has been entirely refurbished in a contemporary style. Fanny Chanove keeps a watchful eye over the smooth running of proceedings in the dining room, while chef Hubert Chanove cooks up modern cuisine with creative touches, inspired by local ingredients and wild flowers and herbs. His dishes tend to revolve around a particular season or ingredient (fish from Lake G
