This gem of a restaurant brimming with traditional Bavarian charm serves exceptional food in an inviting rustic setting. It is understandably popular, so be sure to book well in advance! Andreas and Michaela Hager form a harmonious team and this is clearly reflected in the delicious dishes they craft. Their short menu showcases superb local ingredients in classic dishes such as liver dumpling soup, Tafelspitz (prime boiled beef) with horseradish or salmon trout fillet with a mustard sauce. The 3-course menu is also interesting. Service comes courtesy of a friendly front-of-house team.

This pretty country hotel run by the Lechner family offers not only fabulous views of the region and tasteful, cosy rooms but also exceptionally good, fresh cooking. The regional and seasonal dishes include game as well as classics like Zwiebelrostbraten (fried beef and onions in gravy). Wonderful terrace.

Regina and Markus Schupp, after whom this restaurant is named, are both professionally trained chefs. Here they rustle up seasonal dishes inspired by the cuisines of France and Germany. Delicious examples include scallops au gratin with green asparagus, Jerusalem artichoke and almond, or venison ragout with cranberries, Brussels sprout leaves and sour cream. Those who wish to savour a more extensive meal can put together their own set menu comprising three to five courses for a fixed price. The menu features exquisite regional and seasonal dishes, crafted from carefully selected produce of the highest quality – the restaurant has its own herd of Pinzgau beef cattle, as well as a hunter, who provides the game. This inn has a long-standing tradition of hospitality. A relaxed atmosphere reigns in the delightful interior, which combines modern elements with rustic charm. Outside, the lovely terrace is shaded by chestnut trees. With an emphasis on organic and locally sourced ingredients, the menu features regional fare and takes its cue from the seasons. Daily specials are also available. For overnight stays, there are well-appointed guestrooms furnished with natural materials and designed with sustainability in mind.

This restaurant serves a wide range of Asian cuisine – sushi, curries and wok dishes are the highlights, and the focus is squarely on the quality of the ingredients. Inside, there is a minimalist decor and open kitchen; outside, a lovely covered terrace. The trip to Grünwald is definitely worthwhile. Marily, which sells ice cream and confectionery in summer, is housed in the same building. Tip: Park free of charge in the multi-storey car park on Marktplatz a few metres away.
