This old monastery in Moirago, overlooking the Naviglio Pavese canal, was founded in 1250 and converted into an inn as early as 1478. Centuries may have passed, but the tradition of hospitality continues in the building’s enclosed painted portico, as well as in its two warm and atmospheric dining rooms. The chef’s Puglian origins explain the abundant use of vegetables and raw fish dishes, while in winter the cuisine takes on a more northern Italian flavour. Good selection of wines by the glass.

A taste of the big city in Milan’s southwest inner periphery: Altatto brings a fully vegetarian cuisine built on contemporary ideas, modern techniques, and flavors that alternate between bright citrus accents and softer, more captivating tones. A prime example is the mascarpone risotto with celeriac base and walnuts, intense and perfectly balanced. The space, minimal and clean-lined, finds warmth in an informal, jovial service that makes the overall experience all the more welcoming.

Housed in a majestic historic farmhouse, this small friendly restaurant boasts intimate dining rooms and attractive “shabby-chic” style furnishings. In summer, the delightful outdoor space in the internal courtyard offers an idyllic setting.
