"AS" refers to both the lakeside location (am See: Scharmützelsee) and the initials of chef-patron Andreas Staack. In this inviting, friendly place – a cross between a wine bar and a bistro – the affable owner devises a five-course menu out of his modern dishes, such as "gnocchi, morel cream, sot-l'y-laisse" and "sea bass, fennel, mussel cream". The quality of the ingredients is top notch, and the bill is good value for money. On Sundays, the set menu is available at lunchtime. The restaurant is nestled in a side street in a quiet, leafy residential area a stone's throw from the spa gardens. I
