Sustainable gastronomy is the name of the game here: the ingredients are strictly seasonal, harvested from the vegetable garden or sourced from small-scale producers, and the fish is caught locally. Comfortably seated with a view of the sea, diners enjoy Jérôme Gourmelen's dishes, characterised by well-defined flavours and careful presentation, eg his symphony of raw ikejime fish. A brisk avel vor ("sea breeze" in Breton) depicts this seaside eatery. Camille Lacome and Agathe Richou craft flavoursome recipes rooted in the region (flawlessly fresh seafood, buckwheat, Guémené andouille, gwell, fermented milk) dotted with subtle Mediterranean accents (olive oil, thyme, tomato water). Spot-on, aromatic dishes served in a spacious modern setting.

Venetian chef Matteo Vianello chalked up experience in the kitchens of Alain Ducasse and Jean-François Piège. Now established nearer the sea, he has dedicated his small contemporary bistro to the island of Sant Erasmo (home of the famous purple artichoke). He has certainly not lost his touch, revisiting the classics in mouth-watering dishes that convincingly draw on Breton and Italian scores – for instance, ravioles of snails, sweet garlic stock, roast buckwheat or tiramisu.

This eminently hospitable inn upholds culinary traditions rich in textbook technique and indulgent, spot-on flavours. Christophe Le Fur, born at Cap Fréhel, is thriving in his homeland as he crafts bold, crisp dishes oozing in generosity. The chef, who cherry-picks his ingredients, demonstrates the full scope of his talents (particularly in the field of sauces, one of the house’s signatures!). Brittany lobster and sweetbread sautéed in butter with creamy morels in Noilly; poultry pie in a tarragon jus; without forgetting the flamboyant crêpe flambée to finish your meal on a high.

Chef Vincent Seviller has come up trumps in this establishment near the railway station. He invites diners on a bistronomic journey in a tasteful, modern setting. An experienced and talented craftsman, each dish is artfully presented, flavoursome and balanced. The lunchtime menu is chalked up on a slate, but more elaborate in the evening.
