One of the best places to discover Tuscan cuisine, and that of Arezzo in particular, this restaurant serves exquisite dishes full of flavour. Just a few tables are laid out along the main street in the historic centre, while the two interior dining rooms are rustic and romantic in feel. Friendly and exuberant owner Romano merits a particular mention, providing guaranteed entertainment in between courses.

Occupying a restored farmhouse at the foot of Cortona, this restaurant has two different dining areas: a wine bar on the ground floor where you can enjoy excellent aperitifs or buy local food produce, and a restaurant on the first floor that serves a traditional yet constantly evolving menu with a focus on seasonal ingredients. There’s also a beautiful outdoor space for summer dining.

Enjoy traditional cuisine served in an elegant 16C dining room with a fireplace or in more informal trattoria-style rooms, all of which are decorated with the same theatrical theme. The recipes here focus on local traditions and seasonal ingredients, resulting in colourful, well-balanced and beautifully presented dishes that are full of flavour. There are just a few tables on the small terrace near the entrance overlooking the pedestrianised street, so if you want to sit outdoors make sure you book well in advance.

Situated in the historic centre of Passignano, where the village seems to jut out into Lake Trasimeno (some tables in the main dining room boast views of the lake – make sure you book in advance), Il Molo has been run by the Pellegrini family since 1978. The restaurant has become a popular choice for guests keen to try top-quality fish from the lake as well as excellent poultry dishes, with dishes showcased on an à la carte and three tasting menus. We highly recommend the herb bottoni pasta with sunfish and saffron butter. There’s also a good choice of sparkling wines and champagnes.
