The historical hamlet of Kohlhof, nestled in an idyllic location above Heidelberg, among meadows and fruit trees, is something of a gourmet island in the forest. Exuding rural allure, the cobbled courtyard is your first port of call: sip on an aperitif, before moving on to the charming, lovingly decorated dining room, which has a pleasantly intimate atmosphere. In the open kitchen, a cleverly devised modern set menu of 13 delicacies - such as ‘Charred cabbage, eel, smoke’ or ‘Mushroom & potatoe, egg yolk, spinach’ - is rustled up. Chef Robert Rädel cooks creatively, setting great store by regi

The farm-to-table ethos is consistently put into practice in this culinary gem nestled in verdant surroundings. Almost everything on your plate comes from the restaurant's own produce: around Heidelberg, some 750 varieties of vegetables, herbs and fruit are cultivated across approximately 7 000m2. Each day's set menu is determined by what the gardeners have freshly harvested in the fields and brought to the kitchen that morning. Staff take pleasure in explaining the underlying philosophy to diners and service is charming. The seasonal seven-course set menu also comes in a vegetarian version, b

This appealing restaurant is all about sharing. Good-quality ingredients go into imaginative dishes that you can combine as you see fit to create your own set menu. Another lovely idea is the "Heidelberg Menü": a culinary guided tour of the city, available in either a classic or vegetarian version. Some tables afford a view into the glass-fronted kitchen. The staff are friendly and professional, and you can trust the wine recommendations without hesitation. Chambino bar and bistro is located almost opposite. In summer, make a beeline for the gorgeous, lively terrace overlooking the Alte Brücke

Pretty details such as wood panelling and historical photos contribute to the cosy atmosphere in this traditional establishment. The kitchen serves up a fine selection of dishes made from regional and international ingredients, from which you can choose a three- to six-course menu. The à la carte menu includes appetising dishes such as "beef tartare, anchovies, brioche, caviar" and "turbot, wild cauliflower, capers". The hotel of the same name has comfortable and tastefully decorated guestrooms. The central location is another trump card.

A classic of Heidelberg's dining scene! In the restaurant of the stylish grand hotel Der Europäische Hof Heidelberg, with its individually designed guestrooms and suites, the mighty coffered ceiling and wall panelling with beautiful inlays preserve a piece of history. The cuisine is based on the classics, and only the very best ingredients are used in the ambitious dishes. Choose à la carte or go for the set menu, available in various lengths. The wine list, specialising in German, French and Italian labels, is also excellent. The highly friendly, professional and attentive service is in keepi

The Stadtgarten Pavilion (1936) has been given a new lease of life with a trendy-chic feel, plus a good dose of glamour! The ingredient-led cuisine blends modern and classic techniques. Food is served throughout the day: The "Business Lunch" is available until 3pm, daily specials until 5pm. In the evening, there is a broader range of options. Diners can opt for a set menu featuring à la carte dishes for both lunch and dinner. Those in the mood for classics such as Wiener schnitzel or beef goulash, or who prefer a pizza, will not be disappointed. The terrace overlooking the small park is lovely

This welcoming restaurant established by a pair of chefs is set in the charming district of Neuenheim. Attractive decorative features such as large-format black-and-white photographs, bold red accents and the open-view kitchen all help to create an inviting atmosphere, complemented by exceptionally courteous service. There is a choice of three set menus, one of which is vegetarian, with the possibility to order dishes individually à la carte. The Chateaubriand set menu for two needs to be pre-ordered – the main course is presented with the classic béarnaise sauce and potato gratin. The restaur

This long-standing family-run establishment is housed in a former coaching inn dating back to 1642. In the charming, traditionally styled restaurant, you can choose between regional classics and seasonal dishes, some with a Mediterranean twist. Menu highlights include boiled beef brisket with sweet-and-sour fruits, horseradish sauce and potatoes, or French bouillabaisse with toasted bread and rouille sauce. A surprise menu can also be pre-ordered. The lunch options are particularly appealing. Tip: In good weather, make a beeline for the idyllic terrace!
