Angélica Cocina Maestra
Creative · ★ Michelin

This restaurant, the name of which pays homage to the mother of Nicolás Catena Zapata, showcases the authentic flavours of Mendoza from a modern perspective. The dining room, which is as imposingly impressive as the rest of the building, is part of the Catena Zapata winery in Agrelo (in the department of Luján de Cuyo), famous both for the quality of its wines and its design in the shape of a Mayan pyramid. Here, the duo of chefs at the helm, Josefina Diana and Juan Manuel Feijoo, boldly showcase their “Wine First” concept, where every aspect of their cooking revolves around wine, and not the

At the Riccitelli Bistró, they have gone one step further to bring together fine cuisine, an appreciation of wine, and sustainability. The Matias Riccitelli Wines bodega in Luján de Cuyo has created this restaurant, built out of remodelled containers and “planted” amid old vineyards, to enhance its wine experience. Chef Juan Ventureyra’s cuisine, which can be sampled in an informal dining room or on the lower terrace, explores Mendoza’s culinary roots on two menus (Mendoza and Argentina, both of which include a visit to the winery) with a strong focus on native, locally sourced produce and ing

Brindillas
Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

Situated in an uninteresting and not particularly attractive area to the south of Mendoza (Vistalba, in the department of Luján de Cuyo), Brindillas is one of those intimate settings with excellent service that will win over food-lovers. Through dishes such as roasted aubergines with a Romesco sauce and salted anchovies, succulent grilled veal with ground pepper, sweet potato and chard, and caramelised peach with amaretto, a light mascarpone foam and home-made almond ice-cream, chef Mariano Gallego, who has worked with famous Spanish chef Carme Ruscalleda and was at the helm in one of her rest

Zonda Cocina de Paisaje
Traditional Cuisine, Creative · ★ Michelin

Transplanting raw ingredients from the field to the plate takes on added value when they are grown on your farm, bringing added personality to dishes and enhancing the culinary narrative when it comes to building recipes. The Lagarde winery in Luján de Cuyo is famous for the excellent quality of its wines (DOC Malbec) and for the fact that it has its own organic fruit and vegetable gardens (tomatoes, lettuce, sweet peppers, chard, pomegranates, aromatic herbs etc), in addition to olives and other crops that it supplies to the restaurant. At Zonda Cocina de Paisaje, the goal is to pay homage to

In the province of Mendoza there’s no excuse for not visiting a winery to enjoy an authentic wine-tourism experience. And with this in mind, Susana Balbo, famous as the first female wine expert in Argentina and a leading wine reference on the South American continent, founded the family-run Susana Balbo Wines bodega, 30km or so south of Mendoza. The Osadía de Crear restaurant, which has existed on the estate since 2013 and is now under the baton of chef Flavia Amad Di Leo, aims to enhance this wine appreciation experience with modern cuisine that is highly delicate and always focuses on local

At the Ruca Malen winery, situated in Agrelo (in the department of Luján de Cuyo) just over half an hour to the south of Mendoza, guests can enjoy a dining experience that will live long in the memory. Its eponymous restaurant (the name comes from a Mapuche legend in which women walked with their heads bowed to avoid meeting the gaze of a handsome young god) is located on a beautiful estate with stunning views of the Andes mountains. The attentive staff encourage diners to sit back and relax and, if they wish, enjoy a glass of wine or freshly baked empanadas at the outdoor tables. The multi-co

Quimera Bistro

Here, in Achaval Ferrer, 28km from Mendoza, the team at Quimera Bistró consider themselves as the “guardians of a legacy”, a sentiment that goes far beyond the production of wine and is further demonstrated in a restaurant that adds to the wine experience. Once you’ve reached the estate via a dirt track between the vineyards, you come to a landscaped area with a small duck pond, and then the winery with the restaurant on the first floor. The latter features a bright, rustic-cum-contemporary dining room that is particularly striking as a result of the glass floor, through which the wooden wine

We’re not understating anything when we say that Luján de Cuyo, at the foot of the Andes mountains, is always worth visiting. And once you’re here, the century-old Norton wine estate is a splendid option. The reason? Its wines, obviously, but also the delightful gardens designed by landscape gardener Carlos Thays, an array of interesting wine-focused excursions (tours, tastings, bike trips, etc.), South America’s largest underground cellar, plus this restaurant, which showcases Mendoza’s local recipes and native ingredients and products (cured trout, marinated pork, river crab, goat’s cheese,
