The Locanda del Capitano and the Tipico offer menus showcasing traditional Umbrian dishes (the former serves gourmet cuisine, while the latter offers a simpler menu). The wine list boasts over 400 labels, while the olive oil selection includes the best oils from the region. Our inspector particularly enjoyed the “maritozzo di mazzafegato” (a type of sausage bun) with escarole, caramelised onions and olives.

Dining options at this restaurant include an attractive outdoor terrace with views of the surrounding area (in summer) and a friendly bistro-style dining room. We particularly enjoyed the linguine with carp roe, as well as the stuffed pigeon.

Enjoy beautiful views of Lake Trasimeno from the outdoor terrace of this restaurant, where the menu focuses mainly on fish, alongside original ingredients such as beans and Umbrian truffles which are used in typical specialities such as tegamaccio (fish stew).

Situated in the historic centre of Passignano, where the village seems to jut out into Lake Trasimeno (some tables in the main dining room boast views of the lake – make sure you book in advance), Il Molo has been run by the Pellegrini family since 1978. The restaurant has become a popular choice for guests keen to try top-quality fish from the lake as well as excellent poultry dishes, with dishes showcased on an à la carte and three tasting menus. We highly recommend the herb bottoni pasta with sunfish and saffron butter. There’s also a good choice of sparkling wines and champagnes.

Housed within an ancient mill in the village of Chiugiana, a small hamlet of Corciano, the osteria offers contemporary cuisine deeply rooted in the local area. Ingredients are carefully selected, and the wine list tells the stories of small producers, both local and national, with a special focus on artisanal and natural wines.

Shelves stacked with wine bottles line the walls at this smart bistro-style restaurant, which also boasts a quiet outdoor space for summer dining. The cuisine is contemporary and creative and is showcased on three tasting menus from which dishes can also be ordered à la carte. We highly recommend the pink shrimp, broad beans, lovage and almond dish – one of the chef’s iconic specialties. Courses here are divided into meat, fish and vegetable sections (Terra, Acqua and Vegetale).

This restaurant is named after Bartolo da Sassoferrato (as is the street on which it stands), a distinguished 14C jurist. From the street, you head down a few steps to the welcoming dining rooms with their historic ambience and brick-vaulted ceilings that keep the temperature pleasantly cool. The cuisine, which focuses exclusively on meat, is traditional and regional in flavour – an entire section of the menu is dedicated to black truffles in season. Friendly and attentive service.
