Located on the edge of the historic centre, this restaurant boasts expansive picture windows that frame stunning views of the Sava River and the city’s contemporary skyline. Talented and passionate, youthful Marko Derić, back in Belgrade after honing his craft in several European restaurants, is now at the head of a creative, razor-sharp kitchen team. Marko’s culinary approach is rooted in Serbian traditions and produce, to which he gives a modern twist, drawing inspiration from French and Italian cuisines. Diners can choose between a range of menus: a five-course fish menu, a five-course meat

Located just a stone’s throw from the lively town centre, this elegant restaurant, whose interior features an upmarket South Asian slant, serves modern comfort food from Vietnam, Korea, and Thailand. The dishes are generously laden and some are available in half portions, allowing diners to sample a range of specialities. We particularly enjoyed the pho soup, one of the establishment’s signature dishes, that can be customised with different ingredients according to personal taste. Each course is flanked by colourful, flavoursome dips that make the experience even more appetising.

The restaurant has moved to Svetog Save 14.A welcoming bistro with an extensive menu revealing a lineup of patriotic recipes that have been subtly overhauled but not to the detriment of their intrinsic character or flavour, largely thanks to the use of local ingredients. We particularly recommend the oxtail with caramelised onions, house-made gnocchi with veal brain and a reduction of bones.

Tucked away on the outskirts of the city centre, the exceptional quality of this restaurant’s food makes the journey well worth the trip. Drawing inspiration from pedigree Serbian cuisine, it proudly showcases local and regional ingredients; most of the ewe’s milk cheese, for example, comes direct from the restaurant’s own farm in the Homolje Mountains. Among the house specialties, the shoulder of lamb matured in dry aging cases is highly recommended, as is the house-made Serbian bread. Hearty, generous portions.

It is well worth driving the 60-odd kilometres from the centre of Belgrade to get to this fascinating property serving fine cuisine and excellent wines. The restaurant is situated within the Atelje Vina Šapat winery, amidst 12 hectares of vines. The dining room, decked in velvet upholstery and chandeliers, is elegant and classical with discreet modern touches, while its picture windows allow guests to enjoy sweeping views of the peaceful Danube, vineyards and surrounding lush green countryside. Talented chef Nikola Stojakovic brilliantly merges high-flying techniques he gleaned in some of Fran

This is the place for anyone who appreciates fish crafted simply and with respect for tradition, allowing the freshness and quality of the ingredients, the true stars of each dish, to shout their name. In addition to the menu, ask the staff about the catch of the day. Fans of Italian cuisine will also find risottos and spaghetti among the lineup. Located just outside the city centre, the restaurant boasts welcoming dining rooms with a rustic slant that add to its warm, authentic vibe.

This sleek, modern bistro stands just opposite the lively Kalenić market. The interior may be compact, but its trendy design and seamless bar service lend the place a bustling, playful vibe (booking ahead is recommended if you want to be sure of a table). True to bistro traditions, the menu is simple and classical as it balances purebred Serbian recipes - the horseradish-leaf rolls filled with ham hock are excellent, as is the slow-braised lamb with roasted eggplant, kaymak fondue and bay leaf oil, with French accents, such as foie gras, snails and Camargue rice, which occasionally even make t

Housed in the swish Saint Ten boutique hotel not far from San Sava church in the Vračar district, the dining room, appointed in a contemporary vein, lies just past the welcoming open-plan hotel lobby-cum-lounge. European-influenced cuisine takes front stage here, with a weakness for meat (try the Hoisin duck or the Saint Ten beef fillet - the latter is the house signature), although the menu also features a few fish dishes, including tuna fillet and grilled or steamed salmon. Vegetarians will enjoy the kale rolls. The plush, cosy Lounge Bar is perfect for a relaxing aperitif or after-dinner dr
