Located in a busy parade of shops, this modern restaurant offers so much more than first appears. The place is stylishly designed with low level seating and a contemporary feel. The comforting dishes are traditional Saudi, using recipes from the past, and they won’t break the bank. Flavourful Hijazi cuisine is at the forefront with plates such as the meat brik, a delicious pie made with a glossy pastry stuffed with meat and topped with honey – perfect for sharing.

You can dine inside, on a terrace overlooking superyachts or even on a bobbing moored boat while enjoying Lebanese classics. This modern and bright place, located in the Jeddah Yacht Club, serves up a fine selection of dips – the beetroot moutabbal is a must – tasty grills and fresh salads that come in generous portions, so be aware of that when ordering. Finish off with the baklava – it’s not to be missed.

Located on the ground floor of design-forward and minimalist The Jeddah EDITION Hotel in a wonderful location on the edge of the famous Jeddah Yacht Club, this restaurant by Cédric Vongerichten, son of Jean-Georges, offers a menu mixing French and Asian dishes. Some favourites include crispy spring roll with pepper sauce and a local seabass with tomato. Take a seat on the terrace when weather permits and enjoy being pampered by the warm and caring team.

Accessed via the main entrance of the shimmering Shangri-La Jeddah, with the fabulous terrace being the first thing that grabs your attention on arrival. The space is huge, with great views of the Red Sea. Inside, it’s all set around the central, traditionally styled domed oven, with a few private cabins also available. The menu is extensive, and offers an appealing mix of Lebanese dishes, some traditional, others with a modern makeover alongside numerous signature dishes. The flavours and textures are excellent, especially the kebabs. Bespoke mocktails add to the all-round experience.

This all-day eatery specialises in carefully prepared Middle Eastern and Saudi plates. Inside, the restaurant is simple yet with a warm and homely feel. The dishes are unique and well-flavoured, with Saudi ingredients at the forefront. Their mezze platters are made to share when you’re in a large group, and some noteworthy dishes are the Laban Setto and the sticky date pudding – all fairly priced.

As you enter, you’re warmly greeted by a smiling team who offer you fresh dates and Saudi coffee, also known as gahwa. Modernity is found throughout, from the interior design to the food. Grab a cosy side seat and order from a menu filled with a mix of contemporary and classical Saudi plates, all bursting with flavour. Order Josper-grilled meats and shellfish, like their tasty roasted prawns with mint sauce, or rich, fruity lamb with Hijazi debyaza served with freshly baked bread. Finish off with their specialty dessert, their twist on a traditional Om Ali dessert.

Nikkei cuisine comes to life in Jeddah’s upscale Leylati space – an event space-cum-restaurant hub. Hidden away on the side of the domed building is this atmospheric restaurant with an eye-catching mocktail bar. Sit at the large wooden counter, which fringes the open kitchen, to watch the sushi chefs show off their Japanese techniques. From crunchy shrimps to Wagyu sliders, there’s something for everyone – and sharing is recommended!
