Since July 2021, Lara and Maximilian Schocke have been breathing new life into St Laurentiushof. Lara, with her warm personality and astute wine recommendations, is in charge of service. Having worked at Lilly in Neupotz, Stefan Echle (service) and Matthis Nowak (kitchen) have found their new vocation – in the vaulted cellar of the separately run Villa Königsgarten hotel (formerly Weingut Diehl). Remaining true to the Südliche Weinstraße, Sandra Bernhard and Jochen Sitter moved from Birkweiler to this 300 year-old former coaching house, which they run with great dedication and charm. The chef cooks traditional and modern, but above all, flavoursome fare. Dishes include classics such as pan-friend black pudding and Saumagen (stuffed pig’s stomach). The interior courtyard is gorgeous.

Stefan Püngeler and his wife Michela De Munno – well-known figures in the region – have taken over the reins here after a successful run at Restaurant Schneider in Dernbach.
