This restaurant is located right on Wollishofen harbour and boasts a magnificent view of the "Zürisee", as the locals call Lake Zurich. The kitchen team, led by David Klocksin, serve up punchy dishes. The four- to five-course surprise menu reflects this with pleasingly pared-down yet full-bodied creations, such as the vegetarian baked cauliflower with curry and peanut. However, the more "conventional" options, such as the Valais pike-perch or Zurich beef, are just as delectable. A vegetarian version of the set menu is also available. Feel free to add wine or alcohol-free pairings. This is a tr

The journey to this idyllic little hamlet is well worth it, for Gregor Smolinsky has a special talent: his ability to strip things down to the bare essentials. The focus is squarely on the produce. His style of cooking is classic and clear-cut; nothing distracts from the superior quality of the ingredients. Take, for example, the thick and fleshy freshly caught John Dory, served with a grainy mustard sauce and Catalogna. Only a few components are used, and they are always brimming with intense flavours. Tip: Try the brasato ravioli or soufflé – they have almost cult status! It's no wonder that

"Brasserie Deluxe" is an apt description of this restaurant in the stylish hotel La Réserve Eden au Lac. The atmosphere is relaxed; the space is upscale and elegant – the focal point is the green-tiled open kitchen. The large windows overlooking the lake also deserve a mention. A highly professional team presents classic Italian, French and internationally influenced dishes. At the helm is Marco Ortolani, who has previously worked at La Trattoria Enrico Bartolini in Tuscany and with Alain Ducasse in London. His CV also includes time in Hong Kong. The house-made ravioli, for example, delivers b

Italian fine dining is the order of the day in the restaurant of the stylish Mandarin Oriental Savoy, a hotel dating back to 1838. The restaurant is accessible via a separate entrance on Waaggasse. The interior is refined and elegant, the Italian cuisine of Dario Moresco creative and modern – the dishes often play with bold contrasts, yet remain beautifully balanced. Executed with subtle finesse and a memorable flavour profile, a standout is the gossamer-thin, delicate nettle tagliolini, nicely al dente and served with buttermilk sauce, segments of a remarkably aromatic poached oyster and a sa

In the centre of Zurich, right next to the Münsterhof square, this compact restaurant is tucked away in a side street. The concept is "counter dining": guests take their seats at the counter for an eight-course set menu that takes its cue from the seasons and is made from excellent ingredients. The cuisine is Asian, with an emphasis on seafood. Shining examples of dishes include "golden garlic oyster royale – hint of chilli", "langoustine broth with corn harmony" and Peking duck. A choice of sake, wine or alcohol-free beverages complements the food. Hostess Lin Wang is always on hand and will

This charming sister restaurant of KLE has moved to a new location. As before, the cuisine is plant-based and shaped by the Spanish and Moroccan heritage of chef-patron Zineb ("Zizi") Hattab, who was born to Moroccan parents and grew up on the Costa Brava. Her modern take on the culinary styles of Spain and Morocco results in dishes that are brimming with personality. The plates are also ideal for sharing, making this the perfect place to spend a cosy evening with friends. Feel free to enjoy a drink before or after your meal; you can also drop in for a coffee or aperitif during the day. Brunch

The first floor of this 16C half-timbered building makes for an exceedingly pleasant setting. Each area has a cosy, rustic feel, plus there is a small conservatory overlooking the lake – not to mention the lovely terrace. The menu features traditionally inspired cuisine with seasonal touches, including classics such as Hereford beef entrecôte and fresh veal liver. Attentive and adept service, as well as wine recommendations are provided by the sommelier.
