Not the easiest place to reach unless you are already in the area, Sauris di Sotto is a picturesque mountain village, with houses that seem lifted from a fairytale. Here you’ll also find this restaurant, with its characteristically Alpine interior. The menu naturally celebrates the local territory, beginning with the area’s famous cured meats, an excellent frico of cheese and potatoes with polenta, and, of course, plenty of meat.

This small family-run trattoria is nestled in the heart of Carnia and is an excellent example of mountain hospitality. Most of the ingredients used in the kitchen are sourced locally and are complemented by vegetables from their own organic garden. The chefs are passionate about tradition, which they present to guests with a delightful personal touch, as in the case of their cjarsons, the area's famous ravioli, the filling of which changes with the seasons.Those with a sweet tooth really must try the chocolate trilogy, one of the restaurant’s most successful and popular desserts.
