This upscale restaurant serves classic cuisine that draws on Baden's culinary tradition and is made predominantly with regional ingredients. Options such as braised veal cheeks or a tasty fish medley in beurre blanc are sure to whet the appetite. Abundant wood and decorative features provide a cosy backdrop. In summer, head for the lovely verdant terrace. Very friendly service. Given the proximity to Strasbourg, the Black Forest and Europa-Park, it is also worth considering staying in one of Hirsch's well-kept guestrooms or apartments.

After almost 30 years in Mallorca, Czech-born Martin Sklenar and his wife Lucie swapped the Balearic island for the vineyards of Oberkirch. In their restaurant, they propose an interesting blend of regional (Baden), Mallorcan and Bohemian-inspired cuisine. This is served in a cosy interior with a slightly rustic feel, or out on the wonderful terrace known as the Weinberggarten. There is also a vegetarian/vegan set menu. The ingredient-led dishes can be accompanied by your choice of wine from a predominantly regional selection.
