Traube

French Contemporary · ★ Michelin

Since chef-patron Arno Sgier took over the reins in 1993, this restaurant in the little town of Trimbach has developed into a real culinary gem. Traube is a lovely place to be, with its chic and modern interior done out with premium furnishings, and its well-trained front-of-house team attending to your every need. Then there is Arno Sgier's technically ambitious cuisine. His classic yet really modern style is evident in, for example, the delicately acidic Lostallo salmon marinated in buttermilk and chive oil, served with textures of cucumber and quinoa crisps. The classics, too, are given a m

There has been a restaurant here since 1870, and the current owners, the dedicated Meier family, have retained the restaurant's traditional feel while also introducing contemporary influences. This is reflected in the flavoursome cuisine, which keeps many regulars coming back. Diners can choose a fine dining set menu of three to five courses – for example, Swiss Alpine salmon from Lostallo with fregola sarda and champagne-saffron sauce – or order à la carte, from classics such as veal cordon bleu to Indian curry with paneer, vegetables and jasmine rice. A well-chosen wine list complements the

Melanie and Denis Schmitt fulfilled their dream of owning their own restaurant when they opened Le Murenberg over 10 years ago. As a pastry chef, she takes care of desserts but is also the charming head of service. Donning his apron in the kitchen is Denis Schmitt, who, hailing from Alsace, feels a connection to French cuisine – we recommend the "Breton Weeks" held in October, for example. His modern-inspired classic dishes are as much about the excellent craftsmanship as they are about the high-quality produce. Feel free to steal a glance into the kitchen. Incidentally, the chef comes from a

At the Häfliger family's restaurant, the aim is to unite the new with the tried and tested. This principle is reflected both in the property itself, whose period architecture is complemented by elegant modern accents to create a welcoming setting, and the work of the team led by chef-patron Oliver Häfliger, who represents the fourth generation at the helm. He wins over diners with traditional regional and seasonal dishes that are skilfully crafted and brimming with flavour. His wife, Stefania Martinelli, presides over the attentive and well-organised waitstaff. The à la carte options, daily sp

A delightful place with a lively atmosphere! This elegant 19C townhouse opposite the Church of St Martin houses a charming brasserie with decorative details such as old photos, a striking chandelier and attractive parquet flooring. There is also a heritage-protected dining room with stuccoed ceilings. Chef-patron Daniel Bitterli cooks classic, traditional dishes that take their cue from the seasons and draw on Mediterranean influences. Dishes such as the sole fillets with two kinds of asparagus and hollandaise sauce exemplify the restaurant's commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients and f

Located in the Old Town, right on Klosterplatz, this invitingly down-to-earth restaurant serves classic Italian cuisine made from high-quality ingredients. The menu features pasta and a variety of traditional meat and fish dishes, with plenty of familiar favourites. Mouthwatering examples include "Piccata Milanese con Risotto ai Funghi Porcini" and "Fusilli 'Pasta di Gragnano' alla Scarpara". As you might expect, the wine list features Italian labels. Owner Sergio Salsi brings a personal touch – his charming, easy-going manner fills the restaurant with life and gives it real character.

With the ‘Negral’ and the ‘Gaststube’, there are two concepts under one roof here, in the ‘Klostergasthaus Löwen’ dating from 1870 on the grounds of the imposing former Cistercian monastery dating from 1194 in the St. Urban district. On the first floor, Pascal Schwarz and his team offer modern, classically based cuisine in the form of a surprise menu, including vegetarian options, in the chic little gourmet parlour ‘Negral’. The six, eight or ten courses are prepared using excellent seasonal, regional and international produce. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the monastery church. Tip:

This is Pascal Schwarz's second restaurant on the estate of the former 12th century monastery. In addition to the gourmet restaurant, he also has his ‘Gaststube’ in the historic monastery inn in the St. Urban district - also on the first floor. Modern interiors have been attractively integrated into the traditional setting - on the terrace behind the house you can enjoy the good cuisine of Pascal and his team as well as the view of the imposing monastery church, which is well worth a visit. The cuisine is regional, seasonal and international. In the evening, there is a nice selection of dishes
