Although it feels as though time has stood still in the pleasantly old-fashioned dining room, with its outmoded decor and furnishings, the service here is attentive and enthusiastic. The dishes are traditional and typical of the area, making this an excellent choice for delicious seafood cuisine that is elaborate without being overly fussy.

Far away from the tourist hordes, Venissa is situated in a small walled vineyard dating back to the Middle Ages – complete with 14C belltower – on the small island of Mazzorbo, a magical setting which is perfect for a short stroll before settling down to eat.
