You can sense the dedication of hosts Rita and Domenico Miggiano-Köferli, who, since 2000, have been running this lovely inn that is steeped in history. As well as having tasteful, individually decorated guestrooms and Gaststube (their everyday restaurant), Löwen is home to Apriori, a fine dining restaurant that has held a MICHELIN star since 2018. The setting is modern and elegant, with warm tones and elegant design details shaping a refined interior. The small private dining area, with just five tables, offers a wonderfully intimate atmosphere. Chef-patron Domenico Miggiano puts his heart an

This 500-year-old heritage-protected inn is run by Patricia and Cäsar Meyer, who represent the second generation of their family here. He has a penchant for fish caught in Lake Zurich, just a stone's throw away – you can't get any fresher or more regional than that! Meat and vegetables, too, are sourced from the immediate vicinity. Besides the whitefish and perch, the Stäfa venison is especially worth trying, such as the overnight-braised shoulder with Pinot Noir sauce. This commitment to regional ingredients underscores the kitchen's sustainable approach. Food is served on the first floor of

The location by Lake Zurich is quite something – the terrace overlooking the water is dreamy, not least on account of the mountain views! The restaurant boasts further charms indoors: regional cachet shines through, beautifully combined with chic, modern style. The menu includes classics – beef tartare and crispy battered fish bites are a must – and contemporary dishes such as lake fish ceviche or, for dessert, "wild cacao from Bolivia".

Dating back to the 16C, Löwen is a lovely traditional inn that has been run by Tanja and Franco Körperich since 2019. She takes care of the service in the charming and elegant wood-panelled dining space on the first floor, and Franco is at the helm in the kitchen. Diners sit at elegantly laid tables to savour a surprise menu comprising four to eight courses, with vegetarian options available if pre-ordered. Top-quality ingredients go into classic dishes that draw on modern and international influences. A shining example is the gently barbecued and mildly spiced king prawn, accompanied by light

The wide-ranging menu includes spaetzle with Sbrinz (hard cheese) and truffle, cordon bleu with Alpine cheese, "Vorässä 2.0" (beef stew with a twist) and salmon green curry. The service is friendly and attentive. Lunchtime options are more limited and moderately priced.

Run by Rita and Domenico Miggiano-Köferli, Gasthof Löwen's second eatery is a delightful and more down-to-earth alternative to the fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere is inviting, not least because of the warm hospitality provided by the waitstaff. The freshly prepared, flavoursome dishes include pan-fried Lötschberg perch fillet with lemon thyme and almond butter, and Zurich veal ragout with glazed vegetables and butter rösti. Vegetarian options available. Popular lunch deal.
