Jonathan Zandbergen is a dedicated craftsman who interprets "wild" in the broadest sense. Naturally, this encompasses game from the forests of the Veluwe – you can see pheasants and ducks hanging in the ageing cabinet – but he is also mindful of overfishing in the North Sea and Wadden Sea, and champions regenerative agriculture. His reverence for his ingredients is evident in his skilful technique and the way he allows them to shine in carefully considered, elegant preparations. His cooking is precise and well defined, characterised by aromatic depth. The red mullet, grilled to succulent perfe

At 't Arsenaal, historical details such as an old spiral staircase and rustic tiles are seamlessly incorporated into the bright and rather sleek decor. There is an atmospheric bar, and the courtyard garden terrace between the buttresses of the Lebuinuskerk is an ideal setting for a romantic dinner. Yolande and Rob ensure a refined dining experience front of house while the chefs serve up enticing dishes à la carte or as a surprise menu. From crisp pork belly with kimchi to lamb enhanced by a rich cumin sauce, the cuisine is wonderfully in tune with the times, with just enough international inf

The authenticity of this former monastery (1293) has been preserved in every detail. Where once the friars used to take their meals, you can now enjoy a luxurious dining experience in a historical setting. The ultra-modern open kitchen immediately catches the eye. Niels van Dooijeweert brings a penchant for bold flavours and contemporary techniques to French dishes. Succulent pan-seared sea bream with a brunoise of tomato, papaya, onion and pak choi, in a curry sauce finished with lemon oil – this is the kind of cooking that draws so many diners; exceptional ingredients take the spotlight. Hotel de Sterrenberg's restaurant draws on its natural surroundings. The interior is sleek yet warm, combining lots of wood with concrete, and a large wooden stag's head that draws the eye. The chef believes in sourcing his produce locally, using local suppliers such as Gert van Eldik and the Veluwe asparagus farm. Diners are served a surprise menu composed of intricate and beautifully presented dishes. Think venison from the region with carefully considered vegetable accompaniments and a game jus enhanced with vermouth. A proud ambassador for the Veluwe!
