L'étable
The only hint that you're dining in a former stable (l'étable in French) is in the name of this restaurant. This well-kept old building in the middle of the tranquil old town used to be a coaching post. Where the stables once stood, diners now settle in and enjoy friendly and attentive service in an ambience of understated elegance. Under the direction of head chef Constantin Kaiser, exceptional ingredients are thoughtfully combined and placed firmly in the spotlight. Housed in the long-established Zum Stern hotel, this restaurant has a charming rustic feel with its wood panelling and lovely white tiled stove. The cuisine is regional but draws on international influences. There are two set menus to choose from (one of which is vegetarian), as well as an à la carte selection including barbecued steaks. The options are a little more limited at lunchtime.
