The welcoming interiors, distributed across several rooms, afford comfortable views of the lake’s beauty at every turn. The kitchen specialises above all in freshwater dishes, such as trout salad with potatoes or a flavourful fish soup. Among the main courses, the duck breast from the neighbouring valleys stands out, richly flavoured and served with pumpkin štruklji and an excellent red wine sauce.

Here, the chef offers tasting menus of various lengths featuring meat and fish specialities with the occasional international influence, as well as a 4-course option (the Gorenjska selection menu) with a stronger regional focus. Vila Podvin is a country hotel and restaurant set amid the countryside surrounding Radovljica. Its greatest asset is the magnificent garden, an ideal setting for a cuisine that is fresh and intense, conceived to celebrate the local and seasonal produce of Upper Carniola, a region poised between Italian, Slavic and Germanic influences.
