This attractive restaurant in the heart of Alba, the gastronomic capital of the Langhe, is home to chef Damiano Nigro who has previous experience in Michelin-starred restaurants in the area. The restaurant serves aperitif snacks, tapas and top-quality cocktails alongside its delicious, generously portioned meals which, as you might expect in Piedmont, have a traditional flavour. Manuel Bouchard’s cuisine impressed our inspectors thanks to striking features such as his minimalist approach and the use of just a few well-chosen ingredients. Traditional recipes, such as plin pasta and Fassona beef, feature on the menu alongside more alternative, imaginative dishes (including fresh- and saltwater fish). This elegant restaurant is located on the first floor of a building in the old town, just a stone’s throw from the medieval tower. A warm welcome and an excellent wine list complete the picture.

Major refurbishment at this renowned restaurant has given it the feel of an informal, welcoming contemporary bistro. Don’t miss the “Napule” tasting menu, which offers just four courses that include anchovies, cavatelli pasta and Neapolitan meatballs in a nod to the owner’s origins. Over time, the wine list has been extended and improved, with wines now stored in a new cellar. Some of the ingredients used in the dishes can also be purchased to take home.
