Lively, welcoming and full of character, this brasserie ticks all the boxes. The outdoor terrace is the real highlight, overlooking a forest pond reminiscent of a Monet painting. The menu is thoroughly French, with a few signature flourishes by Sidney Schutte evident in a handful of international dishes, but also in the depth of the chicken velouté with aromatic truffle or the rich butter sauce with capers and the veal jus that lends power and punch to flawlessly cooked skate fillet. The extensive range of options is simply irresistible. A beloved institution given a new lease of life.

The thatched roof and trendy yet welcoming interior are a draw in their own right. However, it's the pergola and the gorgeous terrace overlooking the heathland that steals the show. The kitchen is run by a highly skilled chef who produces French cuisine with the utmost respect. The sole meunière and pan-fried foie gras do not disappoint with their robust flavours, but the chef also has some surprises up his sleeve, such as a swordfish carpaccio finished with a spicy harissa vinaigrette.
