Since 1906, over four generations, the Beesten family has put its heart and soul into running this traditional inn in the heart of Rheine. The owner himself is at the helm in the kitchen, preparing classic French and German cuisine peppered with seasonal influences. The interior is elegant and tasteful, while the service is charming. Take a seat on the terrace under the lovely old chestnut trees.

The Backers family business has a long tradition to its name, stretching back to 1843. Today, the sixth and seventh generations are running the show with great dedication. The fresh and flavoursome food draws on the region and the seasons, and ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible, including the venison and Diepholz geese. The restaurant is a long-standing member of the Slow Food community. There are also a few comfortable guestrooms. Try the "Backers zum Kennenlernen" deal: four-course regional set menu with drinks, plus overnight accommodation.

Set in refurbished former railway buildings dating back over 150 years, Wilde Triebe offers a minimalist, imaginative and fashionable mix of art and food. The flavoursome, seasonal, regional fare is served in an upmarket brick, concrete, steel and wood interior on the restaurant’s own tableware. Great garden.

Dating back to 1904, this spruce urban villa has been known as a stylish culinary destination for aeons. Owners Klaus Weingartz (kitchen) and Elke Zeitner (front of house) have been running this establishment with great dedication since 2011. Ambitious classic cuisine made with select ingredients is served by charming waitstaff in comfortable and elegant dining rooms with high ceilings, or out on the gorgeous terrace. Set menus can even be pre-ordered to take home. Cookery classes and overnight accommodation are also available.

Like their hotel with its cosy individually designed guestrooms, the Hankhs' restaurant is also very popular. This is down to the excellent seasonal cuisine, which has regional and Mediterranean influences. A great deal of dedication and care is invested in preparing the often complex dishes. You can order à la carte or opt for a set menu (vegetarian version available). Friendly and competent waitstaff. The small terraces in front of and to the rear of the building are delightful.
