We recommend allowing plenty of time to get to this restaurant, which is accessed via a winding uphill road that can’t be rushed. However, the journey is more than compensated by the romantic dining room housed in an old rustic mountain building. The entrance is through the old stables, while the dining room itself occupies the first floor of an old hay barn, where a large floor-to-ceiling window boasts views of the valley, especially from the closest tables (there are only four tables in total, plus a small private room). At the helm in the kitchen, chef Corrado Fasolato, who has plenty of ex

You follow winding roads up into the Lessini hills to get to this small paradise, a rustic setting which is home to an elegant, family-run restaurant where everyone works hard to ensure that you enjoy your evening. Federico Pettenuzzo and his mother are at the helm in the kitchen (the latter responsible for the delicious pastas), while Federico’s brother Riccardo oversees the front of house. The creative cuisine is prepared from ingredients sourced from all over Italy and further afield, with some occasionally original combinations.

You follow a series of hairpin bends to get to this restaurant on the Asiago plateau, where you’ll find some of the most creative and original gourmet cuisine in Italy, largely thanks to owner-chef Alessandro Dal Degan. “Journey” and “path” are two of the chef’s favourite words, both of which are a good description of the gastronomic experience on offer at La Tana Gourmet. The chef offers a long tasting menu (there’s no choice of courses) which he himself explains to guests at their table. Every single dish will amaze you and open up new perspectives, as part of a gastronomic feast full of int

Run by the same family since 1976, this restaurant is accessed via a steep winding road and yet the many loyal guests who return here time and time again are proof that the journey is well worth the effort. Once here, the warm welcome offered by the whole family, the attractive dining room with a fireplace, and the delicious cuisine all add to the appeal. Showcasing substantial cuisine with a focus on local flavours (the winter menu featuring game dishes and mushrooms is extraordinary), the menu offers traditional dishes that appeal to the eyes and the palate. In the idyllic setting of a 16C mill with a garden and small lake, this restaurant boasts an equally magical dining room with a warm, friendly and traditional feel. Top-quality dishes from the Veneto include a delicious sopressa(the region’s cured ham), Vicenza-style baccalà (cod) with Marano polenta and a soft guancetta served with a superb pendolòn (potato polenta).

If you like cod, you’ll be in your element in this restaurant which serves this versatile fish in many different ways, from plain to salted (baccalà) and dried ((stoccafisso). The house speciality is the most famous dish of nearby Vicenza, namely bacalà alla vicentina (written with just one ‘l’ in this region and featuring dried rather than salted cod, despite the name). In addition to cod, the menu also includes other classic fish and seafood options as well as a few meat dishes.

Situated just a stone’s throw from the square with its famous chessboard, this authentic trattoria boasts a warm, inviting dining room and an outdoor space shaded by wisteria. Run by the same family for 120 years, the restaurant serves regional specialities such as tripe soup, bigoli pasta with various sauces, Vicenzo-style bacalà (salted cod), Venetian liver and desserts such as zaeti biscuits and macafame bread pudding. As there are just a few tables and the restaurant is very popular, booking ahead is recommended.
