Just a few kilometres from the city, already enveloped in the tranquillity of the Parma countryside, this trattoria embodies to perfection the spirit of local cooking: a simple yet warm atmosphere, a homey welcome, and dishes that speak of the territory with forthright honesty. The menu revolves around the specialities of Parma, prepared with quality produce and a homely touch that wins one over from the very first mouthful. The tortelli alle erbette, made with an excellent locally sourced fresh ricotta, are not to be missed, a true emblem of the tradition. For those with a sweet tooth, the me

At the edge of the city, just off the ring road, this quintessential trattoria features spacious dining rooms where a familial, informal atmosphere prevails, while from the kitchen arrive the pillars of Parmesan tradition, executed at an excellent level: flavorful dishes crafted from predominantly local products. Among the unmissable offerings, the anolini in capon broth, savory and satisfying, as well as the pork cheeks in lemon cremolade with cream of garbanzo beans.

Trattoria Ai Due Platani

One of the most celebrated venues in the province, this restaurant set in a tranquil country hamlet just outside the city requires reservations well in advance. The cuisine is firmly rooted in the land, yet never shies from a creative impulse, which emerges in both flavor and contemporary plating. Among the more contemporary offerings, the tender Apennine gray rabbit stands out: presented as an elegant terrine, accompanied by olive crumble, potato millefeuille, and peppers. A harmonious, delightful dish!

Calabrian chef Salvatore Morello brings a breath of fresh air to the city synonymous with gastronomy. Drawing on an international background, he presents a cuisine that weaves together recipes and ingredients from diverse culinary worlds, united by finesse, personality, and a striking cohesion. Exceptional raw materials, occasionally accented by exotic notes, find precise balance in every course. Special mention goes to the bread program: the loaf, crafted from sourdough and minimally refined flours and baked in a cast-iron pot, captivates with its pronounced crust and unexpected lightness. Park in the small car park close to the village, then make your way on foot to this restaurant, admiring the village’s beautiful stone houses along the way. Inside the restaurant, the service is informal yet professional, while the cuisine served on the first floor includes emblematic local specialities such as tortelli alle erbette (stuffed pasta with herbs) and local salumi (including Parma ham). The wine list boasts a good selection of local and Italian wines – finding a label to suit your taste and budget will not be a problem!

A contemporary trattoria where you can enjoy some of the region’s delicious specialities, all of which are faithfully reproduced with maybe just a hint of modern flavour – this is one of the most interesting restaurants in central Parma! We particularly enjoyed the bomba di riso (stuffed rice pie) with pigeon ragù, as well as the fresh pastas and the roast meat stuffed with roast potatoes.

Trattoria Leoni

Nestled among the hills of Felino, amid the lush greenery of the Parma countryside, this trattoria in Barbiano has long been a point of reference for those in search of authenticity and the flavours of another age. The cooking of the Leoni family celebrates local tradition, drawing upon recipes handed down from grandmother Erminia and interpreted with care and deep respect. Among the most iconic dishes stands the delicious rabbit alla cacciatora: already boned, enveloped in a tomato sauce fragrant with aromatic herbs, it represents at its finest the substance and richness of Parma cuisine. Surrounded by verdant landscapes, this attractive restaurant with a pleasant outdoor dining space is functional in style due to the use of simple materials such as wrought iron and wood, and as such boasts a distinctly minimalist style. A continual quest for cuisine that is both contemporary and rustic in flavour is reflected in owner-chef Vezzani’s reinterpretation of local recipes, which he enhances with interesting combinations and produce grown in the restaurant’s own biodynamic kitchen garden. The restaurant offers five surprise tasting menus: “Gli Intramontabili” (a tribute to the region
