This restaurant occupies the former family home of the German architect Ernst Zillers, who came to Athens to design some of its public buildings, fell in love with the city and remained here for the rest of his life. The building, which is situated next to the Greek Orthodox cathedral and has now been converted into a hotel (Zillers Boutique Hotel), boasts a rooftop terrace and multi-purpose Roof Garden with fine view of the cathedral and the Acropolis. There are just a few restaurants capable of creating a connection between food, nature and a love of one’s country, but here chef Tasos Mantis manages to express his full passion for all three through his cooking. The experience starts with a presentation of the stars of the show here, namely the aromatic herbs used in Soil’s dishes, many of which are sourced from the vegetable garden tended by the chef’s father. The cuisine is highlighted on a single tasting menu which showcases creativity and quality, which can be enjoyed either at the chef’s table, in the bright lounge or in the pleasant wi

The menu here is simple and concise, with options that include sea bream tartare, made with fresh fish of the day and served with dried fruits and a hint of citrus, and the mouthwatering shredded and breaded beef cheeks on a bed of cream along with a topping of truffles.
