Regional Cuisine, Seasonal Cuisine

In 2020, following stints at top-flight establishments, Andrea and Robert Rübsam fulfilled their dream of opening their own restaurant, which is located in a picturesque and tranquil spot some 20min south of Salzburg. Their culinary approach is grounded in seasonality and local sourcing, with 25 regional producers supplying fresh top-notch ingredients. The dishes reflect Austrian tradition, elevated with imaginative twists and influences from around the globe. The menu is written up on a board, featuring options such as "Gazpacho andaluz, bell pepper, jalapeño, croutons", "Pickled trout, cucum

Your congenial hosts Roman and Maria Mailänder represent the second generation of their family at the helm. They put their heart and soul into running this establishment that is typical for the region, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Imbued with the rustic charm of the Alps and adorned with decorative paintings, the ambience is warm and inviting. Alexander Rettenbacher is in charge of the kitchen and devises two three- to five-course set menus – there are one or two alternative main courses available. A self-proclaimed "lodge hotel for gourmets", Langwies Wirtshaus combines several facilities under one roof: a restaurant, a spa hotel, a conference centre and long-stay apartments. The menu features a contemporary selection of regional classics, steaks and seasonal dishes, as well as vegan and vegetarian options. There are several attractive dining spaces – for example, you can book a table in the cosy, spruce-panelled bay room.

The history of this place dates all the way back to 1402! The kitchen team puts a modern spin on traditional Austrian cuisine, and diners can opt for a set menu or order dishes à la carte. Our tip: Try the boiled beef, which is prepared in a range of different ways. The charming interior is tastefully decorated and exudes an appealing family atmosphere. In summer, don't miss the gorgeous terrace laid out in the courtyard beneath the boughs of the chestnut trees.

Traditional Cuisine, Classic Cuisine

More than just a pretty face, this gorgeous 17C country estate, located on the outskirts of the city, is also a delightful setting for a delicious meal. The cosy interior marries classic elegance with charming regional touches, creating a welcoming atmosphere. In the summer, the lovely garden beckons. The cuisine is a flavoursome blend of Austrian and Mediterranean influences. The wine list, too, is definitely worth a look. Tip: Come at lunchtime for the small, moderately priced menu available.
