Marie and Lorenz Wissler represent the fourth generation of their family to run Berghotel Wiedener Eck, which enjoys an idyllic location at over 1 000m above sea level – the view of the valley is stunning! For overnight stays, there are attractive, cosy guestrooms, and the restaurant is brimming with traditional Black Forest charm, interspersed with modern touches. In the restaurant, you can look forward to friendly and courteous service, as well as regional cuisine and dishes that draw on the culinary traditions of France and the Mediterranean, all made from fresh high-quality ingredients – t

Spielweg
Asian Influences, Regional Cuisine
€€
First mentioned in records in 1705, the original Spielweg building, managed by the Fuchs family, makes for a wonderfully cosy setting. The charming dining rooms are done out in traditional Black Forest style and the service is extremely friendly and attentive. Diners can expect classic regional cuisine that is ambitious and full of flavour, as in the warm smoked char from the Wutach in a cold potato and leek broth. It also draws on Asian influences, cf. their wild boar dim sum with soy sauce – Asian cuisine is one of the young chef's passions. The lunchtime menu proposes somewhat simpler fare,

Die Halde
Country cooking, Farm to table

At an elevation of 1 147m, this elegant restaurant effortlessly bridges the gap between the old and the new! In cosy traditional dining rooms, friendly and professional waitstaff serve dishes such as medium-rare topside of veal with coleslaw, pickled onions, chive cream and mustard gherkins, or pan-fried cod fillet with gremolata, asparagus, pea purée and gnocchi. The menu also features Zwiebelrostbraten (sirloin steak with crispy fried onions and gravy), schnitzel and other classics. The kitchen prioritises regional ingredients, and the water comes straight from the property's own mountain sp

The setting could not be more charming: a gorgeous centuries-old Black Forest house with a cosy, rustic-looking interior. As for the food, top-notch seasonal ingredients from the region and the seasons go into flavoursome dishes. Attentive service. The well-kept guestrooms don't have TV, but in this idyllic village setting, you'd rather enjoy the peace and quiet anyway!

Gasthaus zum Raben
Classic French, International
€€€
This charming farmhouse dating back to 1604 is truly idyllic! Set at an altitude of around 600m, it boasts a beautiful location with views of Freiburg. Inside, low ceilings, rustic wooden seats and benches, wooden floorboards and an old tiled stove make for a cosy atmosphere and tap into the character of the region. Dedicated owners Melanie and Pierre Barrel are in the thick of the action here – she heads up the friendly and professional service team; he runs the kitchen. Diners are served a "carte blanche" menu of four or six courses, inspired by the seasons and the proprietors' French herita
