L'Ambasciata
Mantuan, Italian Contemporary
€€€
This has long been one of those restaurants in Italy where the opulent interior decor has no equal – at Christmas, the mirrors, rugs, silverware, chandeliers and piles of books are joined by the largest and most ornate Christmas tree that you’ll ever see in a restaurant. The cuisine created by owner-chef Matteo Ugolotti is inspired by Mantuan traditions and the restaurant’s previous famous owners, occasionally going all the way back to the Renaissance. Special mention should be made of the extraordinary chocolate salami – a dessert coated with a delicious, frothy, warm zabaglione poured from a

Seafood, Mediterranean Cuisine
€€€
In the heart of the lower Padana valley, in the open countryside and in a lovely, specially restored farmhouse, Claudio prepares almost exclusively seafood cuisine of excellent quality, with a few southern accents, particularly from Puglia, his homeland. In summer, it is pleasant to sit at outdoor tables under the modern portico. The indoor dining room on the first floor has a contemporary feel.

Emilian, Traditional Cuisine
€€
The Emilian authenticity of the Barolo brothers and their team fills the air with smiles and warmth, making every visit to this simple and welcoming restaurant a pleasure, the perfect place to enjoy the company of friends or colleagues. The menu is steeped in tradition: it is impossible to resist their pasta dishes, such as the creamy and satisfying “gramigna sporcafaccia” or tortellini covered in a velvety smooth Parmesan cream sauce. Desserts include a crunchy “sbrisolona” cake served with zabaglione made with passito wine, while the “zuppa inglese” trifle releases deliciously smooth notes t

Raw seafood is always on the menu: served plain or in slightly more elaborate versions, it is one of the most popular choices among diners.

Entrà
Emilian, Regional Cuisine
€
Siblings Antonio and Elvira uphold a family tradition which, since the 1960s, has been part of a much longer history, that of the simple wine shop which occupied these premises immediately after the Great War. For generations, the Previdi family has been a benchmark for authentic, fragrant and delicious Emilian cuisine, prepared — as they like to recall — “without revisiting it, whenever possible”.Fresh, homemade pasta is a real highlight, starting with the legendary pumpkin tortelli – made famous in part by the restaurant’s proximity to the province of Mantua – served with a savoury meat sauc

She’s from Hong Kong, while he’s from Suzzara – together this couple run this welcoming restaurant where their international focus extends from the dishes which feature on the menu to the wine selection and the couple’s love for applied arts. Once seated, you can either choose traditional fare, including a few delicious fish dishes, or you can be tempted by the decidedly Asian options. Whatever you decide, one thing’s for sure – authenticity and seasonal, locally sourced ingredients are guaranteed.
