Common questions

Can a Chinese passport holder with a valid U.S. visa visit Luxembourg visa-free for short tourism/business?

No. The EU visa list places China in the group whose nationals must hold a visa when crossing Member States' external borders; official Schengen rules do not list a U.S. visa as a substitute entry document for Luxembourg. Apply for a Schengen short-stay visa unless holding another Schengen-recognised document such as a valid Schengen visa, Schengen residence permit or long-stay visa.

Can a Chinese passport holder with a U.S. green card enter Luxembourg visa-free?

No. A U.S. green card alone does not change the China-passport outcome: a Schengen visa is required for entry to Luxembourg. The Schengen border rules refer to a valid visa where required, or a valid residence permit/long-stay visa in the Schengen context, not a U.S. residence card as a substitute for entry.

Can a Chinese passport holder with a valid Schengen visa go to Luxembourg?

Generally yes. The European Commission states that a Schengen visa is generally valid for every country in the Schengen area, and Luxembourg applies the common Schengen visa rules. You must follow the visa validity, number of entries, permitted duration of stay, and the short-stay ceiling of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Are Taiwan passport holders visa-free for Luxembourg?

Yes, if the passport includes an identity card number. The EU list states that the Taiwan passport exemption applies only to passports that include an identity card number. Short stays are up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
