Visa on arrivalstay 30 days

Initial stay up to 30 days; may be extended once up to 60 days total.

China is listed by Indonesian Immigration as a Visa on Arrival/e-VOA subject. B1 VoA covers tourism, family visit, meetings/incentives/conventions/exhibitions or similar events, and transit; it does not allow selling goods/services or receiving remuneration from Indonesian persons/entities. Passport normally must be valid for at least 6 months and a return/onward ticket is required. Broader business activities such as negotiations, signing agreements, purchases or goods inspection are described under the C2 business visit visa.

Documents that change the outcome

  • Visa-free· apec_abtc · 60 days

Business travel only; traveler must hold a valid APEC Business Travel Card/virtual ABTC with Indonesia pre-clearance shown as “IDN”. APEC states that cards issued to successful applicants from fully participating economies serve as entry authority to economies granting pre-clearance for short-term business travel of 60 or 90 days, while Canada and the United States are transitional members and do not offer reciprocal entry arrangements. Indonesia visa-policy material states that an ABTC with “IDN” permits visa-free business entry to Indonesia for up to 60 days.

Regional stay rules

Association of Southeast Asian Nations

ASEAN is not a Schengen-style common travel area and has no ASEAN-wide cumulative stay rule. The shared ASEAN-level rule is mutual visa exemption for nationals of member states holding valid national passports for social visits, with the ASEAN framework text setting visits not exceeding 14 days; individual member states may grant longer stays or impose national/bilateral conditions.

Common questions

Can a Chinese passport holder with a valid U.S. visa enter Indonesia visa-free for a short tourist or meeting trip?

No U.S.-visa-based visa waiver was found. The official Indonesian source lists China as a Visa on Arrival/e-VOA subject, and I did not find an official Indonesian waiver based on holding a U.S. visa. Use the bare Chinese passport rule: B1 VoA/e-VOA, initially up to 30 days, extendable once up to 60 days total.

Can a Chinese passport holder with an APEC Business Travel Card showing IDN visit Indonesia for business?

Yes. APEC states that an ABTC with pre-clearance serves as entry authority for participating economies, and Indonesia visa-policy material states that an ABTC showing “IDN” permits visa-free business trips to Indonesia for up to 60 days.

Is a Hong Kong passport visa-free for short tourism in Indonesia?

Yes. Hong Kong is on Indonesian Immigration’s visa-free visit list; A1 visa-free entry is up to 30 days and is not extendable.

Does a U.S. passport holder get Indonesia visa-free entry because they hold an ABTC?

No ABTC visa waiver applies. APEC states that the United States is a transitional ABTC member and does not offer reciprocal entry arrangements; a U.S. passport is separately listed by Indonesian Immigration for VoA/e-VOA, so use the B1 VoA rule.
