Documents & how to apply

• Online application / completed visa application form (Form 1) — Official guidance says to apply online through the eVisa portal and submit a fully completed visa application form.
• Certified/notarized copy of passport bio-data page — Must show names, validity and photograph of bearer.
• Original passport — May be sent with the application or once the visa is approved.
• Passport validity and blank pages — Passport must be valid for six months or more and have three or more unused pages.
• Cover letter from the applicant — If coming by road, specify this in the cover letter and include contact details.
• Copy of previous visa outcome · optional — Only if the applicant previously applied for a visa.
• Travel schedule / flight itinerary / hotel bookings — For tourists, official guidance also lists tour plan or travel schedule and confirmation of hotel/lodge bookings.
• Confirmation of employment or business registration — Listed for tourist applications.
• Recent bank statement, first page — Listed for tourist/visitor applications.
• Return visa or residence permit from country of residence — Listed for tourist, visitor and business applications.
• Invitation letter from host or facilitator in Botswana · optional — Required for business visits.
• Business profile · optional — Required if coming to establish a business.
• Meeting schedule · optional — Required if coming to attend or organize a meeting.
• Certified copies of host company documents · optional — If running a business, certified copies of the host's certificate of incorporation, trade license and share certificate are listed.
• Labour clearance/exemption · optional — Required if coming for a month or more.
• Documents for minors · optional — Minors must produce certified copies of unabridged birth certificates; consent affidavit/temporary guardianship applies where parents are not travelling as specified.
• International yellow fever vaccination certificate · optional — Required only for travelers from or through countries declared yellow-fever infected areas.
